Parial Squats Or 1/2 squats

BIGRICH

New member
I have read and heard from many sources that Partial Squats or 1/2 Squats With HEAVY weight will yeild big legs.
What I was thinking was doing 4 sets of Full range squats then doing 3 set of partial Squats.(on the Power Rack)

What do you guys think?

personally i dont htink you should do partial squats, if you want to build mass after you do regular full rom squats do something like leg press or hack squats, dont do partials. from experience i know, i used to be one of the put a lot of weight on the bar, new to squatting, didnt go down all the way people a while ago. then i finally with help and advice from others took some weight off (alot actually), used a box with a 20kg rubber plate on top, and went down to that which was just below parrallel to develop my form. my legs have made much better gains since.

I usually do both, and will increased the weight on partials by 350 lbs to really tax the leg muscles in their strongest range.

Thats not the "leg muscles" its the quads your taxing.

If your quads are lacking, then I guess partials are cool. Nothing beats full parallel squats though. Glutes, Hams, Quads.....just make sure you got good form going below parallel (i.e. your knees don't go over your toes, back not too bent over)

I used to not go low enough...result of partials= big quads + no hams = pussy looking legs.

If it's not full range it's just not worth doing, every since I started going rock bottom years ago, I have gained over 3" on my quads, and can easily squat weights that I couldn't even budge for partials before.
It's humbling in a way because you can't add as much weight, but it really does pay offin the end.
