Many people marry because they want to make a commitment before god, family and friends.

It's a respectable ideal that is very much out of date concept that simply poses peer pressure for young people to feel that they must marry to be considered normal person of society.

If people chose to make the right commitment for the right reasons and not under pressure, at the right time and be willing to work on their relationship no matter what instead of being married for the sake of the rock, the house and the kids and how they appear to the Jones's there might be a chance.

Good article.

Im never going to get married.
What are the benefits for a man?
Women have all the power once you are married and they know it. Probably why there are so many pussy whipped husbands these days.

Whats wrong with staying together and not being married? What difference does being married make? Why cant people just make a commitment to each other without it?

Another thing I wonder is how many people get married who don't even believe in God. Unless your religious then why bother?

It's a load of crap, really.
If you truly love each other then that should be enough.

OH for the love God.

When you get married just go into it like freakin' roomates, share everything from expenses to chores and get a freakin' pre-nup to keep what is yours still in your hands, stop breeding and please stop whinning.

Typical female responce.

PuddleMonkey.. if you have all that and you get married I will find you in real life and kick your ass.
You have it made.. not a single reason in the world you should EVER get married.

Oh, it would take one hell of a girl to sucker me into marriage at this point. Beyond the tax break, I don't see any benefits in being married. About the only way I can get screwed over now is if I end up getting a g/f pregnant. Once a girl has your kid, you're done for, throw in the towel.

and now for the irony in life!
Cue one hell of a girl entering stage left of PuddleMonkey's life in a serendipitous fashion sometime later this week...

Excellent article and spot on. Karma.

"What women perceive as a "fear of commitment" is really nothing more than a pragmatic assessment of the odds facing men in the prospect of a marriage."

Everytime I hear that 'fear of commitment' line I just want to throw up.
