OK, ok, ok...new to this and I have been reading posts but....

GRrrrr!!!!!!

:redhot:

I am madder than a cat on a hot tin roof.

My back is hurt (again) and I haven't been able to do anything but lay in a bed since Monday. I haven't been able to walk, haven't been able to sit up for long periods of time, haven't been able to go out. All me and the boyfriend have been able to do is lay in bed and play video games. Jimminie Crickets, I haven't been able to have SEX!!

I have had this problem with my back since I was 13 years old when I fell of a beam at school and cracked my tail bone and every so often it comes back and puts me down for a week or two. Which is a bummer. The last time it happened was two years ago and I went to the hospital and they did a bunch of XRays and found absolutely nothing. Nothing....the only thing that they could advise me to do was to lose weight. I tried to explain to them that this has happened at all different weights but they told me that they couldn't find anything wrong on the XRays. It's a pain in the ass that your back hurts so much that it hurts to get on or off the toilet and no one seems to know what it is. The boyfriend is taking me to his chiropracter today and the assholes at work were kind enough to give me two days off. But they seem to think that I will be fine and dandy to come to work Saturday night. Sorry, but I don't think so.

Message to self....find a new job.

But I guess all is not lost. I have neither gained or lost weight during this spell. So, I haven't been set really back. Granted I could probably have lost but I didn't gain, that's the important thing to me.

Hope you guys have been doing OK especially in the wake of what happened this past Tuesday.

M-RED,

Sorry to hear about your back. I too used to have recurring problems with my back. Landed on my tailbone falling off a horse as a child. Gave me trouble ever since. I did the chiropracter, massage therapy, and accupuncture. All gave only temporary relief.

Two years ago, I went to a "Rolfer". Rolfing is a special type of massage therapy, based on the principles of structural alignment. Shortly after I did the rolfing (10 sessions), I changed my weight training from useless toning to STRENGTH training.

Moral of this story is my body no longer hurts anywhere (except training soreness, which I like). I used to have a lot of other aches, pains, and constant stiffness, in addition to my back problem, but NO more!

I urge you to investigate rolfing. I sincerely believe it's been a turning point in my life. This is not something done by a typical massage therapist who might tell you they "use some rolfing techniques". They should be a "certified rolfer". Contrary to popular belief, rolfing is not painful.

Cool, thanks for the tip....

I went to the Dr. and he talked to me a little bit and worked on me and he said that for the past 15 years a bone has been popping in and out of place and that I have been lucky enough for it to work itself back in. He popped the left side and it sounded like Rice Crispies and when he did the right side it only popped once. He asked me where I worked at and I told him and he asked me how many days I wanted off and I told him just two since I don't work M-W and he was like OK. He told me that he would decide Tues at my next appointment how many more days I needed.

Work is going to be so pissed off. They covered Thurs and tonight for me but they are expecting me in for Saturday. I stopped by on my way home and dropped off a note as well as an excuse from the Dr. They didn't expect me to go to the Dr. His note said that I was under his care and he didn't want to further aggravate the problem. I love it. especially when I was sick and I was told there was no one to work my shift (I work 11-7) and I went in sick three days.

Well, back is hurting...time to lay down.......

Well, looks like my funny didn't show up :( What a shame since i already got rid of the picture off my computer. It was a cat walking in front of a whole bunch of german sheppards and it had the Psalm 23 "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death" as the caption.

I was more than shocked today when I went to weigh myself. Tony was there for support...I didn't think it was going to be a good week. But surprisingly...with no walking nor taking the Stackers2...noting but laying in bed and sitting for a WHOLE ENTIRE WEEK...I lost three pounds. But all I can think of is what would I have lost if I had been walking and working? I just keep wondering how can it be.

Well, I started walking again yesterday. Got back up on the old horse so to speak....I decided I should stick to around the block so that way if the back started hurting too much I could cut through the yards and get back home. I made it half way around when I went up a hill it started hurting so I cut through. Today I made it 3/4 the way around but I was already at the end of the block when it started hurting and if I didn't finish the block...well, they would have found me just sitting on the side of the road :D so I made it the rest of the way home.

Went to the Dr. again to day. He gave me an adjustment and electrocuted me again. This time only one side popped and he popped the middle of my back and I go back Thursday for another one. We will find out then if I get another work excuse...more than likely I will since sometimes I still have to hold something to get myself back into a standing position after I bend over. Today when I got up from his table I had to push myself into a standing position real hard. And the look on our faces seemed to match.

Well, another RED update......how's everyone doing??

keep up the good work red... i for one love hearing about your progress... hope your back is doing better... just go slow and don't give up

you've got the 'red-head' attitude... we're as stubborn and relentless as they come :)

Still Alive....

Well, my back is all better. I can now function as a normal human being...well, as normal as I have ever been.

I was down to 325lbs. but I popped back up to 328lbs. And it should be climbing...I feel the bloat from PMS coming on. Not only that but the chocolate and salt craving has hit me. Looks like it's not going to be a good week for me. But on a good note...looks like I might be off the 11-7 shift. I only have one 11-7 this week..and I am so happy. The boss man said that if anything he would rotate it.

I've been walking every day..well, except for the days when it's raining. And since I am the only one in the house who hasn't been/or is sick...I think I should stay out of that weather. The good thing about me not working those nights is that when the snow comes I can start going back to the gym with the boyfriend. Although I am still kinda nervous about it since his friends don't like me. Then again...people do have a habit of not liking what they fear. And since I am an opinionated female and they are not used to that...what can you expect? I don't sit in the corner and giggle at their every remark.

Well, time for me to get some sleep. I work 8-4p tomorrow.

Just thought I would drop a line and let you all know that I am still here and that I haven't fallen off the wagon and into the nearest chocolate cake :D

Well, I am now at 312 pounds. And I have only 13 more to go before I reach that first goal of mine. I have lost a total of 48 pounds and I couldn't be happier. My boyfriend told me the other day that it would only be a matter of time now before I could start working out. He and I have had our ups and our downs this past couple of months.

I found something that he wrote about something being missing from his life and that he didn't love me like he used to as well as the fact that he was attracted to this girl that worked at Borders but when he went to talk to her, she said that she had to get to work. He also wrote that he wouldn't want me to change the way I am for anything. Well, I confronted him about it. He went through this lengthy dissertation about how it was an experiment with the girl. That the guys have told him that he can't get better than me (because he doesn't look as good as them) and his parents and I have always told him that he won't find another woman to love him as much as me. I asked him what he would have done if she had gave the right response he was looking for and he told me give her the wrong phone number. When I asked about the stuff he wrote about me he said that he was trying to work his way through something. I askedhim what he found out about his experiment and he told me that he found out that he had everything that he wanted and needed at home. He said that when he walks down the streets and sees girls look at him he feels like that think he is a freak, but he said I have never done that...not even when we first met. He said that everyday when he came home I was there and happy to see him and that was all he needed. He told me that I was not only in his life but I was his life (that came from a movie...I know it did but I can't remember which one). He admitted that he made a serious mistake and asked me not to go home. While we were laying in bed that night....he put his arm around me and told me that he made a mistake and was sorry.....I replied back I hope you learned from your mistake.

There was another incident where he grabbed his cell phone and said that he was leaving and didn't know where he was going or when he was coming back...and that's when I told him if you walk out that door, I will not be here when you come back and you won't see me again. Needless to say he didn't walk out that door. His mom got into the arguement...talking about how upset I was making him and stuff and that she waited all her life for him and I was doing this to him. I burst out my bedroom door and said that it wasn't all my damned fault and that I didn't want to fight like this and all I ever wanted was for us to be happy and then I said the words "Alright, fine...I am leaving, I am moving back to Florida." She said "Good, then go..." I stormed back to the bedroom and Tony's in the living room shrieking (yes, men can shriek) "Oh my God, she's leaving me..." and came crying into the room. Grabbed hold of me and hugged me tight to him and begged me not to leave and told me that I had to trust him that he loves me.

Well, I am still here...my family wants to know when I am going to tuck my tail between my legs and come home. What they don't know is that the good right now out weighs the bad. What they don't realize...Florida and New Jersey is a long way apart and it's hard to make up over a long distance like that.

I guess only time will tell....

Well, keepng you posted

thanks for the update reds....

when you get frustrated and upset why not go for a walk or so some exercise, it'll help clear your head and keep you on the right track to meet your goals at the same time... never fails for me... whenever i get upset, angry or just plain pissed i take my butt to the gym.. chances are i forget what was even bothering me in the first place and if i do remember it seems a lot less significant than it did at the time.. sometimes you just need prespective and to step away and view the situation from outside... i always realize that i fly off the handle and just need the time and distraction to bring me back to a level-headed state...

g/l, keep up the hard work and you'll get there...
phem

I have been surfing this women's board for a month and had never seen your post before. Sounds like you are doing amazingly. Keep it up, it is sooo worth it.
One piece of advice that I can give you is to join weight watchers or some other type of weight loss group. You can exercise, you can diet, but without the support it is going to take you longer to get where you are going. Weightwatchers, in particular, makes it really easy to follow their program. You journal and exercise. Show up once a week, weigh in, and stay for the meeting. Most importantly you will meet people who will become valuable assets to your success. The weight watchers staff are amazing and you can sit down and get pointers and help from them. And as I have just said you will meet people who are traveling the same road as you, people to talk to and walk with. I did (and still do) weight watchers. I am now a life time member so I just weigh in once a month to maintain what I have achieved. Last September 2000 I was 187 lbs and by December I was 40 pounds lighter.

Keep working hard, you are doing great.
