i don't think the guy sounds all that bad... i mean i'm not sure how long you guys have been together, but if he's been through the rollercoaster ride with you in the past, he's probably just trying to protect you from the crash... you just have to keep up the good work, be consistient and confident about yourself and your new thinner future, he'll come around when he sees that this isn't just the latest fad thing that you're going through...
i've seen people i know who have supported others through rollercoaster dieting and weight gain/loss and it can very hard on the other person, they want to see you succeed and do well, but they also have had to pick up the pieces and it hurts to see someone you love fail and know that there's really nothing you can do about it...
well the solution to that is that you don't let failure be an option
you have to find the strength to do this in yourself... let him be your cheerleader when he's ready, but if you are looking to him for the strength that you should be looking inside yourself for, it's liable to scare him... men especially don't like to be presented with problems that they can't fix... and he can't fix you... only you can do that (not that you're broken
you just need some a bit of tuning up!
)... sooo, let him just come around in his own time... and he will... if he's in anyway hurtful or abusive to you then get rid of him, but if he's not your #1 cheerleader right now, just try to take a little insight into why and try to be understanding of that...
now, i know everyone probably hates me for saying that, but i'll tell you a quick story that may make it all make sense... when i was in the process of loosing weight a few years back i was often discouraged and tended to get rather emotional about it (i was all about the waterworks and the "i can't do this anymore")... well my significant other finally looked at me one day in the middle of one of my emotional rages with tears in his eyes and said "what do you want me to do about it... what can i do... I CANT DO ANYTHING!!!"... he was so upset and frustated, not only for me, but because he couldn't fix me, he couldn't make me better... it wasn't that he didn't love me, it wasn't that he didn't want to see me succeed, it was just that what i needed to succeed couldn't come from him, it had to come from me... i had always went to him and expected him to celebrate the wins and pick me up and put me back on my feet again when i fell down... (but in the process i made him feel like a failure when i feel down because he couldn't stop me from doing it... so eventually he had come less and less excited about my successes... and i tended to have fewer and fewer...)
hopefully that made sense - and reds i have a feeling that it did for you... you've got the right idea, do this for you... but also make sure that you aren't draining him emotionally... he's going through this with you believe it or not... so keep a strong front, if not for yourself, for him and his ego
hehe
seriously though, its all about the attitude, if you stop letting all the setbacks get to you, you'll eventually see them as opportunities rather than setbacks (now, when i don't like something on my body, i get out there and i work my ass off until its my best or most fav. part!) ... that's when it all really gets fun!!!
oh, and about the scale, again, i'm going to go against the grain and say keep up with those weighings, they're obviously motivating you right now and that's a great motivator to watch those numbers always dropping... just try to do it at a consistient time of the day (morning, empty stomach, empty bladder) and always wear the same outfit (light clothing, light shoes, or remove them)... maybe once a week... track the changes so you can see how your monthly effects things, then you'll know what to expect that week...
keep up the good work...
