Re: would anyone recommend AS to her?

Since the more muscle you have the more fat you burn would anyone recommend an AS to her to build muscle? Or clen? Or would that be a bad idea for her since she is in the beginning process of losing weight??

i believe it is a VERY bad idea... these are tools that should be used to "fine tune" an already well trained body...

AS, if she hasn't already gotten a solid base in weight training, would probably be money wasted

Clen, at this point in time would not be at all worth the sides and risks...

unless either of these are specifically prescribed by an MD (highly unlikely) then she should just continue with the hard work, she doesn't need these at this time, she's progressing fine....

I agree that you should start doing weights. One thing to keep in mind is when you start weight training you may get slightly larger but DON'T let this discourage you. You must first build muscle in order to optimize your fat burning capacity and the fat is resting on top of the new muscle. But after you have added muscle the fat will shed off at an exponential rate.

Good luck!:)

AAS for this Gal?

No way!!! I agree with Phemomena 100% . We don't know her blood pressure, whether or not she's diabetic etc. ! That could be a recipe for disaster. Just lifting should help. As we all know on this board, begiiners make tremndous progress when they they start. It's just us fine tuned folk that need the push.

It's RED again

Just wanted to let you all know that I appreciate all the advice that you have given me. It has really helped.

Just to give an update. I have lost 23 pounds last month and the pair of pants that I brought when I changed my life are now loose on me. Everyone has took notice of my change...I did have to jump down my boyfriend's throat. He has gave me no support during this month. The only thing that he has basically asked me is "How much?" when I go weigh myself. I do this at GNC so that way I can get the little slip of paper that the machine spits out. I have them all taped in my journal. I told him that his Mom has been in my corner more than he has and that he should be my number one cheerleader (you would think he would be since he goes to the gym every day and works out). But he put it when I first started....."I don't want to get my hopes up and be disappointed." He has changed his mind though... I think it has alot to do with the fact that when my body started to shrink, my self esteem seemed to get bigger. Now he has been talking about where he can tell it as well as pointing out and how it won't be long until I have hips....LOL.

As for the pictures...I did take some when I started and I took another set a month later. You can definately tell. My fat roll <smile~sorry for being so graphic> doesn't hang as low and my sides aren't out as bad. My upper and my stomach is starting to firm up. I have two quotes taped to the bathroom mirror..."Unless commitment is made, there are only promises and hopes...but no plans."--Peter Drucker and "What we do with pleasure we never forget."--Alfred Mercier. I see them everytime I go to the bathroom.

My first goal is to reach 299 pounds. I told my boyfriend that I was going to do something special when I reached that goal and I told him I was going to do it with or without him. His Mom said that we were going to go out shopping and that she was going to pay for everything (if that isn't something to work for....a shopping spree that's not going to cost me anything...WooHoo!!). Then after that I am going to make all my goals 25 pounds....that way it doesn't look like I am never going to get to the end.

My walks which were 35 minutes long now take me only thirty minutes and at the begining of the next week I am going to add the second part of the trail I walk...time myself on that and see how long it takes me there.

Thanks for all the advice....and I will keep you posted.

GREAT WORK... it's so good to hear that you are upbeat and confident about things, and progressing sooo well... congratulations...

as for the boyfriend, well he'll change his ways quick when all the other men start noticing the changes in you...

keep up the hard work... it'll pay off (as you have already found out...)

and you better invite us all to the party when you reach 199!!!

BIG NO on AS for the moment. Candice, do the best you can for the next 2-5 years of working out. After you've improved your physique and pushed yourself to the limit where you can no longer improve your body, then and only should you consider AS. You're doing a great job, thus far. But I'm not going to lie to you. It's going to be really hard. You'll feel like quiting many times, but just log onto the board and write something and someone will pep you up.

take care

You go, Red!

Hi there!

Just wanted to say how great your story is. Everyone has given you great advice, too, I think.

I think the pic is a great idea, and I especially like the fact that your first goal is only 299. The best way to shape up is through small goals.

I also agree with Sassy and the people who seconded her advice -- don't cut out all the fat and protein. In fact, when I'm dieting really hard and being very strict and hit a real plateau, I sometimes go and get a big ol' burger at Johnny Rockets, even with an extra patty sometimes (but no fries, no mayo!), and I find that I've lost a pound or even two the next am. Now, of course, ideally I would eat that protein throughout the day in a healthier form like fax oil, nuts, etc. But the point is, if you throw the good out with the bad, you will eventually (you may not be there quite yet, but soon!) actually slow down your weight loss, as your body goes into starvation mode -- no matter what your weight, I believe.

I think that a good thing for you to do would be to start reading a little about diet and nutrition. But real, good books, by nutritionists and the like; not the trendy stuff. Some of the websites people have recommended look good. Can anyone recommend some good books? I'm at work and can't think of any off the top of my head...

Keep up the good work, and come here whenever you need support; it's a great feeling to have all these great ladies (and guys) helping you out. Soon enough, you'll be supporting others, and that's an even better feeling.

Welcome aboard, and keep us posted!
