OK I thought it over today ALLLL DAY,(also olympic lift help)

Screwball made a very good point. Some people are always going to gain on certain lifts faster than others. I was a hammer thrower, and like most people with a good build to throw, my pulls are great and my pressing exercises are terrible. I have been training for 30 years and still have never benched bodyweight. By the end of the year, my son may out bench me (I may kill him to avoid the agony).

If I were to compare my bench progress to the progress of, say, someone like Halbert or Patterson, on a daily basis, it would be very discouraging. Just keep working, and stick to the plan. It is fine to re-evaluate yourself and your progress, but do so in a way that allows you to both feel good about the progress you are making as well as motivate you to further progress.

Hey guys well I would go ahead and change this workout, but I had a PL go over it and he trains westside so I'm gonna try it for 6 weeks.

GOOD NEWS I had to max pause today and I threw up 245 when I only max at 270 and other people in there that max at 315 couldn't even pause 235. I loved it so for me meet on wednesday I'm going for a 250 pause. But my cleans suck i only clean&jerked 175. So I have to bring up my total with clean&jerks and pause 110lbs in 10 weeks. With a program like this can I do it. What do you guys think?

It depends on how fast you can improve your clean. This seems like the area where you have the msot room for improvement. I would think that you are suffering more from technique flaws that anything else, and with good coaching, this can be easily corrected.

HOLY SHIT your so right see heres the thing my coach says i'm high pulling the whole fucking thing. Well then he tells me just explode but when i do it i don't feel i explode right. What technique do you use step by step?

See dude , your pausing weights that guys that are stronger than you can't. Why? Because your training the pause and they are training to bounce. Pausing is not that much different than touch and go. The stretch reflex should last for 2-4 seconds. Its the Phsycological part of the puase that people have a hard time with and the fact that they don't stay tight at the bottom. You keep second guessing yourself and your program and your not going to get anywhere doing that. Stick with it and get your head in the right place and you'll do well. Ask your coach what technical flaws he sees and get him to work on them with you!
Good Luck
Just go out there and lift the fucking weights! Later

Hey I kinda noticed that monday with the bench thing b/c my friend R that benches 315 only pauses 235 well he failed on 235 but he says today he'll get it in the meet and man i threw up 245 upset for lockout i had trouble with that so today i'm going for a 250 or 255 on my 3rd attempt depending on how easy i got my second attempt. I am sticking with westside, but my coach wants me doing his training and he says doing that i will get my cleans up, well i'm not going to so i guess i'm on my own for cleans. He was REALLY surprised when he saw i paused more than R did. hell i'm not gonna lie so was I. I love this shit. I can't wait til my meet today i'm 3lbs over weight so I'm taking arbuterol which is a water loss pill and after i weigh in i'm going on a rampage with food and gatorade.

Tip...

Upset is no good. I think you mean except. I've seen it in a couple of posts and I wanted to point it out to you.

I've never seen such an extreme between a touch & go bench press and a paused bench press. Your friend must use a "big bounce" at the bottom to be able to lock out 315 lbs. but only pause press 235 lbs. Your technically sound pause press at 245 lbs. is more impressive than your friends "cheat" 315 lb. press. Of course, I train the pause but the difference between my touch & go press and my pause press is 20-30 lbs. Good training!

Hey thanx screwball. Ye i'm glad I stuck with westside I'm hoping this will help me out on my cleans too. I am really satisfied that my pause went up 25lbs as my bench did.
