Ok guys how much do you DB military and how much do you weigh?

Hey, I'm not saying I don't believe you I was just saying that is lot of freak'n weight. Do you need help getting them in position to lift?

It's really irrelevant because DB shoulder presses can be cheated even when you think you've got perfect form.

If people would perfrom this exercise like it's really supposed to be done, most of these poundages would be cut in half at least...straight up and down, lats tight for support, shoulder blades together, elbows back, all delts, no upper chest for help, a complete stop and pause at the bottom to eliminate momentum, a squeeze and slight wrist pronation at the apex, slow and contolled on both eccentric and concentric...

It takes concentration but you can actually find the right groove so that you feel it in your delts ONLY. If you're doing it that way, it's not a motion condusive to moving tons of weight.

curling,

that comment wasn't intended for you...:)
the owner of my gym helps put them up for me and then i usually just push until i can't push any more...GK,i agree 100% on form...although,with that kind of weight i usually use a 2-0-2 tempo and HAVE to keep my good form at all times...one false move and something can "snap-crackle-pop"...although i must admit, that my upper chest and triceps assist in this exercise...afterall,it is a COMPOUND exercise.i start w/ a pronated grip and end on a neutral grip at the top...fyi

ps:at my gym, there's quite a few guys that can lift WAY more than i can...the owner of my gym, presses 180#'s...no j/k.he weighs 330 #s.we all push eachother when it comes to weight, form and motivation...having a surrounding like this, makes me want to improve constantly!!!peace

That`s how i do em. I can get out about 6 clean reps with 55lb dumbells at a bodyweight of 190.

da big thinker- my post was not directed towards you. I'm talking more about all the 16 year olds, who have been training for a few months and already are pushing serious weight. Very hard to believe. Unless they use garbage form and help form a spotter.

i'm about 208 and I'm _weak_ in shoulders and chest. Currently I only do 55lbs - 60lbs db for military press.

I've also only been serious about strength training for 8 months - lifting for about two years.

Id have to say im in the same boat as Natasan right now in the strenth department. im 19, ive cut down from 217 to 201 for the summer. Not only have I lost weight but some of the strength that went with it.. I am doing around 60-65 db for 10-12 reps 3 sets right now. Keep up the training everyone!

Hmmm, I'm 5'6" and about 145lb-147lb depending, I don't know how much I can DB military press of the top of my head, but I can tell you it ain't as much as most of you have posted. On the other hand i can walk on my hands(!) and that's no mean feat, I can walk on my hands at a reasonable speed the full length of a basketball court.
