OIL PRICES THREAD...I know REPOST!

I'm curious what you EF'ers think about ANWAR drilling.

Also, whaddya guys believe the implications would be for the economy(in the U.S. & Internationally).

I know a common argument against it fixing the current oil prices, is that "It won't effect things right for a few years". Well...

Hypothetically: We allow ANWAR drilling for oil, and in the meantime, we start using up our reserves....

Talk amongst yourselves.

p.s. I fucking love you all.

 :qt: :rainbow:

Even announcing a comprehensive drilling plan would drive prices down almost immediately. A lot (but far from all) of the price is being set by speculation -- which is just a nice way of saying guessing about the future price.

I love how the enviro-whackos cite how long it will take to get oil out of Anwar. They know how speculation works and try to fool the masses by pretending you need a refined gallon of gas out of there before the price would be effected.

People need to wake the hell up or they'll see $10 gas in the foreseeable future.

Drill it.

Wont really make a difference at the pump though as long as our dollar is in the shitter.

They should drill and show Opec that we are seeking oil elswhere. It would be interesting to see how quickly the prices drop. This is there way of destroying the US without firing a shot....

cant you guys start stealing more oil from the mid east or something?

petrol hit $1.70 a liter in 1 of our capitals today, about 6.40 a gallon

maximum drilling will only supply 30% of our usage

no reserves left for a REAL rainy day

Sounds a lot like Enron. FYI anyone who hasn't seen "The Smartest Guys in the Room" and is reading this thread needs to go pick that movie up ASAP. And then you will need to grab so vasoline and go buy some more gas before it hits over 7 a gallon in December as projected.

As of currently, it is over $7 per gallon in North Germany. I can't speak for anywhere else.
