Any of you work a 9-5 office job (seditary) and work in your cycles? Do you train am or pm? And how the heck to you manage to bulk, eating 3,500+cals and stay seated/sane all day?

I used to. Cardio in the morning, lift in the evening right after work. The food was the hard part. I used to bring my lunch in a grocery bag. I bought one of those george foreman mini grills for 20 bucks and the bulk frozen chicken you get at sam's/bj's/costco. I wasn't seated for extremely long periods cause I'd be peeing 10x a day and walking back and forth to the george every hour.

The one benefit having a "normal" 9-5 is you can keep your lifts and feedings pretty regular so you get into a routine, rather than having to try to figure out when you can squeeze things in.

I work 8-5 and commute. For me Eating isn't the issue since i'm up @ 7 and hit the sack at 12. I eat every two hours and actually find that i need that just make it through the day affectivley. I Love bulking!

i work 9-6

cardio at 530
first meal at 7

bring meals to work

protean shake and natty pj at 10
lunch at 12:30
next meal at 4

That's exactly the beauty of an office job. You can eat whatever and whenever you want. Try doing that in something like construction.

My office is right next to the kitchen. I can eat at will.

Office jobs makes it alot easier for me to stay on with my food and my water intake. You just get alot of looks from co workers.

yeah dude..i have an office job...730-5 and i commute..but its really easy to get meals in...i mean you pack your stuff and when your ready to eat...well you just do..no one says anything...i guess it also depends on the environment you work in...but during my work hours i get ALL my meals in without any problems...cardio in the AM around 5...commute one hour (carpool so i sleep for an hour on the ride) after work (sleep another hour if im not driving of course) get home around 6 or so....head to the gym for some lifting..get my PWO shake in and a meal right before bed....easily get it 7-8 meals...maybe more if i wanted to eat every 2 hours.

No doubt it's EASY to eat all day, but HOW TO YOU COPE mentally, with eating every 2 hours when all u are doing is sitting.............and the bloatness/fatness feeling..........

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that most people don't have this psychological issue that you do...

Personally, I look forward to eating. When I'm finished one meal I immediately start watching the clock and getting ready for the next one.

In addition, the calories you're consuming on a daily basis should already have taken your activity level into account. If you've decided that you need 4000 calories to grow while sitting at a desk all day, you'd need a lot more if your job was more active. So, there shouldn't be a reason to feel guilty about eating.

exactly...there are breaks and lunch bro..at least in my office...15 walk in in the morning and afternoon....you figure you did cardio in the am...so even in any office job your not just going to sit there all day...at your desk...you move around..you do things...keep you busy...i do case management so i have to move and walk around the office alot...when the day is over i dont feel bloated or anything....train at night

I'm very fortunate. I work in a really laid back company in an IT department. Directly across the street is a gym which our company pays for. So I get to work out while on the clock. My partner and I head over at 11am and return by 12pm and just eat our lunches at our seats. I dread the day I lose this job or get another one because I'll most likely have to do like the rest of you and work out before or after work.

I work 10-6

Do Am Cardio
PM Lifting

I eat 6 meals a day 2-3 hours apart. I am so happy I have an office job... Had opportunities for other shit in the field, but I hate travelling.

I am fortunate as well. Our company caters lunch every day and they accomidate the "healthy, fitness nerds" with a fitness bar along with the regular lunch everyday. Not to mention a basketball court and elaborate fitness/weight gym in the office. Dayum, I am fortunate!!1

That's awesome. I wish more offices were like this.

Yep, I'm a VP for a major fortune 500 company. With that said I get a little leway in leaving early, taking long lunches etc... but I usually take protein shakes into the office with me, workout at night after work, then have dinner...works out pretty good, but can be tough when bulking to eat enough large meals in a day.

i just take a cooler in there with me- loaded with turkey/roast beef sandwiches, skim milk, protein bars, vegetables, chicken/tuna and rice. all i have to endure are the stupid comments from coworkers here and there.

plus, i have a grocery store right beside the office, so i just walk over there whenever i want anything else to eat.

works out pretty good actually.

i was getting up at 4:45 every morning to be in the gym by 5. i have to be at work at 8 am. so, if i got back to the house by 6:30 that gave me enough time to eat, get ready, and prepare my meals.

about two months ago i started training at night so i wouldn't have to get up so early. that shit was killing my social life; i would be dead tired by 9:30 pm.

working out now at 8:30 pm... trying to be in bed by midnight. thinking about switching back actually. even though i can get up a little later it's kind os a hassle. it was nice to have my training done by 6:30 am. then all i had to do was eat all day.

you all suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol i get up at work 430 to when ever i am done, usually about 4 or 5. i do a lot of just driving so eating is no problem, just the time to fit in lifts sucks. i am in bed by 845 up at 330. i need a new job come to think of it...........

yeah you do...man i come in at 730....get some coffee and chit chat with some people till 815...sit at my desk logg on...but even after i have logged on..i logg on here and other things like accounts and what not...spend some time enjoying my coffee....work really starts for me at 10 lol

will u guys post a sample of your daily meals.......if you are eating ever 2 hours, you got to feel like piss come 5pm.........esp. if you are bulking!

I work 2 jobs. I am manager of a meat department and work an office job. You would think working in a meat department I'd have plenty of time to eat but we are not allowed to eat accept on lunch breaks. It makes it VERY hard to bulk seeing that my schedule is not the same from week to week and my office job I am constantly back and forth and out of the office and never get a chance to sit and eat. Any chance I get I steam some seafood and eat that without anyone seeing.

Working in a meat dept. does have benefits though, I eat beef tenderloin or ribeyes whenever I want.

I keep a box protien bars in my desk, I usually have 2 a day, one mid morning, the eat a lunch and one mid afternoon. I try to cook for 3 days at a time, so I have 3 days worth of meals, so I wont be ordering takeout. I used to work in retail manegment that was hell trying to get meals in, the hours were long and erratic, it was hard to get on schedule.

I just don't get your reasoning. I think that if you worked in construction or a factory, How the hell are you going to eat every couple of hours. The office job is optimal for bulking as opposed to manual labor.

It's hardly 9-5, but I wait tables at a restaurant, usually from 5pm to 3am.
Workout and shower just before work. Once there i have the kitchen cook me up 2 chicken breasts. I also bring in a shake and protein bar to eat at around 9, then 2 more chix brst at 11-12, then eat at home after i get off. Real convenient having a kitchen and a food discount on hand! gained about 15 lbs in the past month of my cycle

Only problem I have when bulking is bloating like a m'f**ka and having to sit next to the most beautiful women in the office :rose: - damn that makes me feel bad.

This was not meant to be a thread on how are you able to eat when in an office......it was a thread about coping mentally, while bulking, of eating every 2 hours and sitting on your arsh...I could easily fathom consuming mass cals if I worked construction or was on my feet, but seated, its soo damn hard!

What you are saying makes no sense. I explained it to you earlier; your activity level is accounted for in the number of calories you are trying to consume on a daily basis. Those are the number of calories you NEED to grow. They are not going to waste or to fat because you are sitting around all day. You would need MORE calories if you were more active.

I don't understand how it's so hard for you mentally. What's the worst that could happen? You lose your abs? BIG DEAL. Then you diet the fat off later, and if you did things properly you now have more muscle mass underneath.

PM workout, I come home from work, commute about 12 steps to the Bluesman's Powerhouse Gym. :)

Bulking at work is easy. I am eating shakes, oatmeal, my normal lunch, peanuts, sunflower seeds, raisans, fruit, peanut butter, cheese...shit, my desk looks like a supermarket...we have two fridges and a couple of microwaves - so I can keep and cook most of what I need to...

I usually eat at 8:30am (breakfast at home), 10:30am, 12:30pm (lunch with my office mates) and 3:00pm -- then lift at 5:30, folowed by a PW shake, then dinner at 8pm, and another snack at about 9pm...

Bulking rules.

I understand what your saying jkurz....but like you said..its coping mentally with it...especially someone like you that stays shredded year round....bulking and having an office job would drive YOU crazy....on the other hand...yeah sometimes i feel bloated as hell...drinking 1.5 gallons of water while at work doesnt help either...once gym time comes around though...i forget all that ...

on a side note....WTF did you do joe stenson? you got bombed like a mother*****!

Yes, life is good when you have a blender and a fridge full of food plus a nap room within strolling distance :)

how do you cope? it's a tough thing to deal with, all that food and rest time and air conditioning... but I think you could get used to it with time

I hate when when EVERY SINGLE FUCKING DAY someone has to make a the damn comment "OMG are you eating AGAIN" "All you do is eat" "How can you eat broccoli and turkey at 10:00 am"

It's like, damn do you really have to ask me the same damn questions everyday? It fucking gets old after awhile. People who are not into fitness will never understand.

Anyone here an accountant?? I'm about to graduate I know entry levels accountant put on sometimes up to 10 hours a day, any one can tell me more less how they manage to eat and train with a shedule like this?

Thanx bro!!! thats awesome to hear yeah I'm going for taxation, well is going to be hard hiding at 250lbs but hopefully when I'm working I can cut down leaner to 235 to 225 and avoid thickness. thanx for the input bro

Yes i would cut down immediately on thickness if you can or care enough too
i mean i dont care so much but i am pretty bright so i can pull it off but if u screw up you will probably be judged harsher bc they will assume you a dumb meathead

no shit. people ask me why I drink shakes. "What does xxx do?" "What is all that stuff for? is it healthy?" "You know it's not really healthy to take all that."

I always have that problem. Work sucks and people suck, too. I wish I could hide it better.

The only thing I don't like about supps at work is fucking protein breath and protein farts. It is very rude to make such smells at work and I do not want to offend.

LOL some of post about co-worker comments ring so true. I agree that probably the hardiest part is going to be putting up with dumb-ass ignorant comments from those who don't diet and exercise. "How can you eat that" "Eww, that looks gross" "Didn't you JUST eat?" It's so hard to hold back from saying something similar to what nishnish suggested. At least I don't have protein farts! haha

I miss the office job, right now I work out of my car; no microwave, no sink, no fridge, no way to keep the diet strict, I'm hating life. Mind you, I work 12 hours a day. I envy all you office ppl.
