No cardio... still losing fat?

I know the purpose of cardio increase fat loss, but I was thinking, How much fat could I lose without doing cardio?

If I used a cutting diet, but with no cardio, what kind of results would I see?

I just finished bulking 2 weeks ago, and I'm sitting at 217, 13%bf, but I feel as if i'm losing fat in my mid section quicker then I expected. I just dropped out alot of carbs and less fat.

Does it make sense for me to be losing some fat right now?
or is in my head?

You can lose fat w/o cardio, I do it all the time. I just workout for 2 hours w/ drop sets and superset, meaning my caloric output is so high that it makes up for the input. I go 10% below my BMR and get significant fatloss w/o cardio.

Just about anyone could get lean without cardio, it simply requires a good diet plan that you can adhere too. I've done it and worked out only 3x per week less than an hour each. On top of that I didn't do the higher rep, calorie burning type of workouts. I did lower reps with heavy weights, usually 5-6 rep ranges and never going over 8. This was also with a refeed on the weekend.

I think cardio can speed it up and theres no doubt it's good for your cardiovascular system, however it's anything but required.

Xtreme2001: You will come to a point where fatloss decreases a lot/slows up. This is when I would add some more "serious" cardio, like walks before breakfast. Many people diet and skip the cardio. After a while bodytemp will decrease/metabolism decrease and the person might lower calories to keep loosing weight. I do not like this type of dieting. I rather do cardio and keep calories where they are. When I've dropped a % or 2 I increase cardio even more and might change my diet a bit. Increase cardio doesn't have to mean stairmaster for 2 hours, that's a bit too much for my taste. I do an 1 hour walk every morning 6 days per week. When not cutting, 4-5 days per week 30-40 minuters per time. Not just because holding fat down/away, but also to allow me to eat more food(I f*cking love FOOD!!), It also gives me a nice morning start and I just feel so much better If I get this walk in the morning.

do what you do right now, but checj your diet so you are not loosing to fast. When you feel the hole "process" is slowing down, add some light cardio. I never change my diet until I reach 8%bf, that is when I start to lower carbs a little. Don't forget I'm an easygainer so I know what fatgain is.

Hope this helps.

Working out for 2 hours or so is not a wise idea, especially when you are DIETING........talk about a great way to lose muscle, go catabolic, and have your cortisol levels set all time highs, well there's a good way.

Not fully a truthful statement, I've done it and so have a lot of people that I've worked with. It is NOT the catabolism you are worried about, it is the catabolic phase of the overall situation, in a state of overtraining as I've shown, you would achive full glucagon release resulting in a higher blood lipid profile, increasing the capacity for fat-burning.

Not all workouts are anaerobic, if done correctly, you can generate an aerobic workout and a anaerobic workout from the same timeframe. Just look back at Arnold days and you'll see.

I'm at a point in my pre-contest diet that I'm finally starting to increase my cardio. I'm currently at the leannest I've ever been, but I'm trying for even leanner and I've got 5 weeks to contest. The fat loss is slowing and I don't want to drop kcals anymore, so I'm starting to add short cardio sessions in the evening to help keep my metabolism going. Up to this point I've been doing 3 30 minute cardio sessions/week and lift 4xweek. I stretch in the evenings, so I'm adding 20-30 minutes of cardio before the stretch. These sessions are moderate intensity; more aimed at boosting metabolism than kcalorie burning.
