Hi Guys (and girls),

I will make it simple, I am fat!

Male, 25, 6 feet tall, 310pounds, fat mostly around waist. Which diet should I follow. All I hear about on this board is the CKD diet. But with the amount of fat I have, it this the diet for me? Shoud I go witha "reguar diet"?

I trained alot in the past however I haven't gone to a gym in the last 4 months, I am starting again tomorrow.

Please help I really want to turn my body/Life around!

I know you probably read this question a million time and feel free to refer me to past post. I do not care, I want/need guidance.

I have diabetes in my family, I do not have it but I was wondering if this diet can be bad for me?

Where do I start??

Thanks everyone!

CKD will benefit you. It's logic is eat fat to burn fat. It works really well, you just have to tweak it once in a while.

I'm not sure about the diabetes.

Firstly, Hazenali, welcome to the board. Hopefully you'll find all the topics and answers useful someway or another. Unfortunately, I'm unfamiliar with diabetes' effect with the CKD diet. Below is a link where you can learn a lot about it.

Anyway, what is your diet like?

Hi Guys,

My diet is basic,

7am - Muslix cereal with a cup of milk.

9:30am - Half a Nitro Tech bar with 500ml of 2% milk

12pm - 1 cup rice and seafood or chicken

2:30pm - Half a Nitro Tech bar with 500ml of 2% milk

5pm - Chicken breast with 1cup of white rice

8:30pm - Protein shake with 1 cup 1% milk

Please let me know your opinion or anything, but again with my current shape, is the CKD diet good for me, should I trim down with a regular diet and then start the CKD diet?

Please let me know!

Just because diabetes is in your family does not necessarily make you a diabetic. The fact that you overweight could make it more likely though. I've read that diabetics cannot use ketones as fuel so the CKD diet may not work for you. Perhaps you should be checked first.

i would see a doctor, honestly your not going on a casual diet trying to lose like 5,10lbs. you need to lose alot of weight. please see a dr before you do anything drastic....untill then 45min walks before breakfast EVERY MORNING.

Cut out those nitro bars and replace them with vegetables,e.g, carrots, celery, cucumbers or apples, orange,..They will give you bulk, fiber ,vitamines, etc.

Considering the amount of weight you have to lose, I'd personally recommend losing most of it via a more moderate (e.g. portions and eating times) approach to eating, with a healthy variety of clean foods (including adequate carbs). You didn't get where you are overnight, and you're not going to pick up new eating habits overnight, either. It's going to take some hard work and dedication.

I think that starting off with a CKD might give you faster results at first, even comfort you at the thought of cheating weekly, but ultimately I think a better goal might be to force yourself to make better habits first, then manipulate things like carb intake later down the road, when you have everything under control and could use a little jumpstart.

Personally, I'd nix the cereal in favor of oats, and ditch the bar in favor of, well, almost anything else. ;) However, you're just starting out, so you may not want to get too strict right off the bat, or that's going to set you up for a rebound later on. I'll reword that: you might not want to get too strict ever (unless planning to compete or in a field of work that requires such) because even the best-intentioned healthy weight loss efforts can snowball into a million disorders more easily and frequently than you may think. So it's not the end of the world to eat a protein bar or cereal if that will keep you focused on your goal and better able to make this a lifestyle change, not just a "diet." Make sure you stay happy and satisfied no matter what plan you ultimately choose. That's the name of the game! :)

But obviously, all this is stuff you have to judge for yourself. Nobody knows your body and feelings better than you, but unfortunately, figuring out all this dieting stuff sometimes requires taking two steps forward and one step back. :)

Lift those weights, get out there and take some walks, focus on healthy foods to fuel your body, and kick some ass -- you're in control and you can do this! You will be stronger and trimmer before you know it. Congrats to you on making a wonderful decision! :D
