New chest routine

What's a better chest routine to increase my max.

1. 5 set/5 rep routine ( 5 sets of 5 reps each of what you can normally do 6-7 times max) ex. if you can do 225 6 times on your own.. so it would look like..
Week 1:
225x5 225x5 225x4 225x4 225x3
Week 2:
225x5 225x5 225x5 225x5 225x4
Week3:
225x5 225x5 225x5 225x5 225x5
Week 4: Add 10 punds
235x5 235x5 235x4 235x4 235x3

2. Arnold's Method: 4 step bench ( chest > full extend > half way to chest > full extend > back to chest.


I currently do the gradual increase up to my max.... but summers over and i am going to start to bulk and need a new strength gaining routine. I pushed my max as much as i can and i've hit a plataue and i need a new routine to get me out of it.
 
the chest doesn't have enough to do with bench press to have your bench press routine based on chest.

hammer your tri's with some JM presses and get your delts with overhead presses. do some bent rows for your lats. go up in weight in these every weight and your bench will go up. guarunteed.

Surely. Just eat a lot, sleep well, and train hard buddy.
 
you dont even need to work out with weights all the time..bodyweight works fine, trust me.... im 17, weigh 160 and bench 250....all because of pushups :)

when I need a switch I go to incline first and then flat folled by dips.... This seems to get me out of any ruts I am in. but remember you flat is going to suffer from the incline excercises, a very humbling expewrience....

Your method seems sound, are you going to be doing 5x5 for the incline aspect as well???
 
pushups... i am also 17, 165 and i rep 225 for 8... never tried max... but i have to try it for this 5x5 and see how much i improve
