Hey guys I went to the doctor today to get the results from my blood test... At the time of the test I was only on HRT 200mg eow. Well everything checked out good except my Cholesterol.

My total was 198
HDL 27 range is 40-59
LDL 146 range is 0-99

My doc was worried so he told me to change my diet and put me on Lipitor 20mg ed.

Guys please help me out... I am currently on 500mg test and 1 1/2 anadrol ed.

Thanks E

First thing I would do is drop the Lipitor, and go on a high protein, low carb, moderate fat diet for about 4-6 weeks, then retest your lipid profile. If you respond to the low carb diet, then that is your non-pharmaceutical answer. If you do not respond, then Lipitor is probably required. Many folks respond well to using Glucophage along with HRT and really watch their carb intake. Your current pharmaceutcial regimen will make it worse, so drop back to HRT elvels until the lipid profile is normalized.

Dr., please explain the role Glucophage plays in this. Thanks.

lipitor will be poison to your liver! try some policosanol , pantethine, beta sitosterol ,guggul, chromium. It will help

Everybody's jumping the gun.

I'm dead set against using Lipitor but nobody should telling someone not to take prescribed medicine. That's one.

Number two. You cholesterol isn't that high. Your HDL is kind of low, and for that I'd recommend Apple Pectin, olive oil, fish oil, garlic, hawthorn, Borage oil and lecithin.

Thirdly, you brought this on yourself. You're already on HRT. Why are you taking more test and fucking with drol? If you want to do a cycle within the HRT it should be anabolic in nature. At any rate, I'd wait a while.

Follow this advice and I guarentee in one moth your profile will be improved. Good luck.

Just another point.......Carnitine is sometimes prescribed for poor lipid profiles. The prescription form is called Carnitor. Don't waste your time with over the counter supplements claiming to contain carnitine. Medical testing has demonstrated that few if any over the counter brands contain usable quantities at all. I know from personal experience that 3000 mg/day works pretty well. Diet will likely only alter your lipid profile plus or minus ten percent which will help but probably won't be enough to correct your problem. I would be inclined to try prescription carnitine first before going to Lipitor. You can also do them together if necessary. The only way you are going to raise your HDL is to get off of the anadrol as that is the likely culprit. The extra test also contributes to suppressing the HDL. The only other, non pharmacological way to raise HDL is to exercise and I am assuming you already do plenty of that.

By the way, what do your trigylcerides look like?

I am also mystified as to what Glucophage would do, other than to help sweep excess fat into fat cells IF the person has type II diabetes (i.e. insulin resistant).

uh, first thing I would do is drop the anadrol. That should lower your bp significantly. That's about the worst roid you can take if you're worried about your lipid profile.

Forgot to ask...

Are you on any anti-e's? A-dex and aromasin can cause dangerously low HDL levels.

change your dr.!!...He's exaggerating...after your cycle, change your diet, add all the healthy oils, add 1,200mg of niacin daily, add cardio to your routine, and after about 6 or 8 weeks test your cholesterol levels again....if that doesn't work we could start thinking about lipitor...

Bro,

Just to let you know I had a physical when I was on 1-AD only and my HDL was 27. The nurse went over the numbers with me and booked an appointment for more blood work. I went off 1-AD and had the test redone approx. 3 weeks later, it jumped to 55. My HDL went from low to normal.

Just be aware that HDL can be effected by exogenous steroidal hormones, your call on what action you take.

Good luck.

Maybe your HDL's are low but the total of 198 is not high. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't it seem excessive for him to be on lipitor when his total is only 198?

Great replys fellas and to be quite frank for not being Doctors some of you have some good advice... It worked out that I had an endo appt. today aswell. When I went to his office I took over the results. He stated that 198 is not that high and lipitor was a bit extreme and should not be used in this case. He said that if it was around 240 lipitor would be needed.

His suggestion was to add in some cardio and drop some of the fast food.

My plan of action is to stay on my cycle while adding flaxoil along with cardio and I am going to drop some of my fried foods.DAMN

But as a side note my testosterone levels were still around 160 dl which is extrememly low!!!! Since the hrt my levels have only moved up 20 points. I asked him what the deal is and he said to keep taking 1 shot eow and I might have thick skin and the test may take longer to absorb in me than most...Kind of weird. Now keep inmind that I good my blood work done before I was on my current cycle.

Great advise. Take it.

In addition, you may consider trying the dash diet. It's no joke and has worked very well for several colleagues as well as my father.

210 total and under saves money on life insurance policy's for christ sakes! 198 total is nothing! Fuck some people get into the 300to400's!

I am beginning to see this galaxy... You must understand I am only 21. I have made great strides in my body im 262 at the moment at about 18% so I am happy, then when I heard this I was like wtf!!!!

Nelson I am still waiting for your opinion*
THanks
E

You're only 21 and on HRT!?!

I'd need more info before givng any advice. Usually HRT guys should use primo and var on top of he test. But for now, it sounds to me lke you should just get your hormone levels stabilized.

Also... 262 pounds? You need to lose some weight bro. That'll help with the HDL as well.

yeah I am 21 the doctor said it is not that uncommon for men my age to have low testosterone levels. He also said that if my levels stayed low(below 200 dl) for many years that I could rist osteoperosis sp.

Thanks
E

Glucophage permits efficent utilization of glucose. So instead of the excess glucose going into the adipose tissue and cholesterol cycle, it goes into the muscle and other important peripheral tissues. This is simplistic but easy to understand.

Sounds like glucophage would be something that would be helpful to take at any point...

anyone know of any good "all in one" lipid level supplement? One with policosanols/tocotrienols/garlic/gugguls/etc? Theres gotta be something like this for older folks out there right?
