Nelson, protein intake question..

...what is your view on how much protein the body can use in one day?

1, 2, 3gr/pd?

Also why?

Needs vary day to day and the ability to process protein varies among individuals. But to put it simply, the old rule of a gram per pound of bodyweight works pretty well.

though why then do the American Colllege of Sports Medicine swear that the body does not need that much protein.
this thought always has baffled me.are we believing a paradigm thats been fed to us by bodybuilders for a long time that needs to be reexamined?

as far as personal experience,i am clueless.

Because like so many other reserachers , they get involved in the research and forget to apply logic.

True, you can't possibley use 200 grams of protein a day. It only takes a few grams to grow an ounce of muscle and that's all you can expect to grow in a day. BUT...the body doesn't use all the protein you ingest. It just grabs whatever it can. So you have to flood the system with available amino acids so it may draw upon what its needed and when muscle tissue is broken down that need is increased significantly. THAT'S why bodybuilders need extra protein.
