Hey man - I think I remember you saying that you snuck chalk into your yuppy, chalk-fearing gym that doesn't allow it on deadlifts day. My gym's the same way. What's your method of sneaking it in? Do you put some in a little plastic bag in your pocket and then break it out right before your set? Do you bother trying to wipe it off the bar with a towel when you're done?
I alternate weekly doing dls with and without straps. This week I did them without and by my 7th and 8th reps, my grip seems to be so sweaty that I think I'm fighting the bar slipping out of my hands more than it seems my grip is giving.
 
Something else you might try if you absolutely can't get chalk into your gym is a rosin bag. You can get them at any bowling alley. I just bought two for $2.25 a piece.

They last forever and the work great for sweaty hands. Plus, they are lots less messy than chalk. (Keep your gym from bitching.)

I put a little piece in a small tupperware container, and just throw my white gym towel over top of it. Just make sure the gym staff arent watching when you chalk up, and if you leave any noticeable messes make sure you give it a wipe with the towel. the fact that all the plates at my gym are black adds a new element of fun when it comes to hiding it
 
DAMN. That`s no way to live, man. Just go up to the staff or manager and say "listen as you can see I`m using alot of weight and NEED the chalk, You don`t want me to get hurt, Do you?" I`m the only one in this Gym that`s gonna use it and will wipe it off when I`m done.
Then hand them a card with your lawyer`s name on it, Call this number if I get hurt, before you dial 911. lol
