Hello, I am 33 ears old 6 ft 210 approx 10% body fat. I am not involved with any bodybuilding but I'm sure everyone's experience will help. I have never tried to take any sort of real cut before, but now I am trying to get down below 190 for various reasons. I am on a super mild cycle 175/wk test e and 10mg day tbol. I take 10mg nolva either every night or every other to keep the small amount of estro sides down like bloating. My cycle is for recovery from the insane endurance workouts I do like running 9 miles, biking 50, lifting, and climbing in a day (long story).

So, I am attempting to eat a moderately high protein diet and eliminating most sugars and all grain sourced carbs in order to lose weight. I don't even care if I lose muscle. Every time I get around 5 pounds lighter, I get lethargic, my sleep schedules go crazy and it does not improve until I have a 4500 calorie day.

I even tried cutting back on the exercise just to lower my carb need but I got fatter. I appreciate being the only 210 pound guy who can get to the top of a mountain pass as fast as I can on a given day, but man, would I fly at 20 lbs lighter. Any ideas?

Are you just asking how to lose 20lbs? Drop the cals or increase the cardio. That will work 100% of the time. When somebody says they're diet is perfect and they still can't lose weight, that tells me they're diet isn't perfect. As for feeling lathargic, I think the statement that you don;t even care if you lose muscle answers that question to a degree. Lighter but fatter is not a good recipe for feeling great unless your bodyfat is extremely low (which it's not, it's exactly where it should be for the activities you want to pursue). I'd just dial in the diet, reduce cals and keep carbs moderate to high. That will work. In spite of what many say, you can and will lose weight with a moderately high carb diet. You may not get down to low single digit bodyfat but you're not shooting for that anyways. Diet baby! The answers nearly always are found in the diet.

So you're denying the possibility that my metabolic function is slowing due to lower caloric intake? I'm pretty sure this happens, especially when one is training a lot. Bodyfat percentage is not all that matters, especially when engaged in sports that involve strength to weight ratio like climbing and cycling.

The idea that weight loss is caused by just lowering calories and increasing activity is technically true, but oversimplified to the point of uselessness. Too many mitigating factors are ignored to make this good advice. The question really is how too maintain a significant training regimen in real sports while lowering body mass.

Nevermind, everyone. This site used to be good. Now I get the feeling its mostly populated by people who sit on a computer all day and lift in their off times.

Teqhnically true is still true. When a person makes an idiotic statement (on a bodybuilding site) like, I don't really care bout maintaining muscle, it shows that person ignorance when following that up by saying that strength to weight ration is what they're looking for. To assert that eating less and doing more will not cause you to lose the weight you are seeking to lose (which isn't that much) it shows your stupidity. I am quite a bit older than you are, likely much more educated, very likely more fit, extremely likely faster, and I know what I'm talking about. To come in here with the attitude that you have, that this site is useless and that advice that doesn't jive with what you think you know is a huge badge of ignorance. Since you know everything, why even post a quustion????

6' 210 at 10% is impressive if you truly are at10% if your performance is great and you feel great at 210, then why mess with a good thing? The truth is, the only way you are going to lose weight and this is coming from someone who plays sports and such not just a weight lifter, you have to drop calories or expend more calories through activities. With the amount of energy you are already expending I can see only one option... Lower calories slightly, hold there, and re adjust after a few weeks. But if your performance is suffering with reduced caloric intake...
