i start classes on monday and this is totally going to interfere with my meal timing and water intake:( . i only have classes 3 days a week but im there almost alll day. there isnt a healthy thing to buy over ther.. freakin pizza and bagels:bawling: so i dont know what to do.. i cant really pack anything cause ill be running around from class to class... i can take a protein bars with me but i mean how many of those can i eat in a day:confused: . also.... i cant drink much either on these days.. i remember last semester when i tried to drink my usual amount.. i would be in the bathroom tinkling every 20 min or so.. i would miss too much of the lecture..not to mention the looks i would get for leaving so often. this is a mojor concern cause im on right now and i NEED my h2o man. would it be ok if as soon as i came home i just started to chug the water. i know its better to drink it throughout the day but i cant.. any suggestions.. any of u chickies in school too? i was thinking about placing a urinary catheter and taping the bag to my leg;)

Good question.
Do you have a dehydrater? If so , you can make your own beef jerky, turkey jerky, chicken jerky, or fish jerky. I don't know what you should do about your drinking schedule. Maybe drink a ton b4 class that way it will all come out at once and you will hopefully only have to go to the bathroom one time and just drink again when you're out of class. Little sips here and there would def. keep me in the bathroom all day. Take glycerol maybe?

Too many protein bars can clog you up, if you know what I mean:worried: Surely, you can pack a PBJ or several cans of tuna in your pack.

Your body will adjust to the water intake. You can drink it all when you get home, but little of it is absorbed which can result in dehydration in the long run. Plus, you'll need the water throughout to help you digest the hard to digest protein bars.

good luck on you school work.

whats a dehydrater? i mean i can figure it out to some extent, duh..but i never heard of that before..thats cool, is it hard to use... im not the slaving in the kitchen type:) but my ass will be making chiken jerkys if i have to:(

thank u poohbear! that was very nice of u:) . i will study my lil ass off :D
damn im bored right now.. at work but my boss didnt come in so im posting up a storm today.. wahoooooo !!!

yeah i'm not sure how i'm going to work it either... i have classes all day 4 days a week so i'm going to have to pack my lunches well and drag my water around with me. we'll see how it goes... lol

suggestions for class:
why can't you pack anything... lazy ass... do it the night before, get one of those lunchbag cooler to carry around and load it up with things that you probably wont be able to get, or that are too expensive on campus (chicken breasts (2-3), sweet potato (cooked), steamed veggies .. a dish of leftovers from yesterday...) if you eat your breakfast at home and two meals in the evening (one meal, one shake), you should be able to carry 3 meals with you... if you don't have a microwave, you'll have to eat it cold... and you'll get a workout just lugging those things around... put a couple ice packs or even some ice cubes in baggie in it to keep it cool...

my meals away from home, actually even at home are generally eaten out of a single bowl... i take a salad (romaine, red peppers, tomatoes) add chicken breast, add chunks of sweet potato or asparagus or some other veggie and eat away... saves time and dishes... quite easy to do on the road and you can eat meals like this in most lectures (maybe not in labs)

if you buy a hand blender (about $20 US) you can make mrp shakes during your breaks (use the ice cubes from the cooler and some water from a fountain) that'll keep 'em cold while you sip on it... i did this during that training course i was on a couple weeks ago.... worked great!)

there should be healthy type foods you can eat on campus if you need to... use your imagination... get a 6'' sub on whole wheat, extra veggies, no cheese, double meat and only eat half the bread... that's a pretty good meal there... (i like the roast beef, although the processed meat does have a lot of sodium, its better than nothing)

bring a fresh bottle of water and sip at it a bit through the class, about 20 min before its done, chug half and you should be good to go on the break, but sit by the door, just in case...

this whole thing aint easy and it aint fun (and its also a real bitch when you spend most spare seconds you have during the day preparing/eating food), but after awhile it does become a lot easier, like any other routine... but it is a big commitment... this whole lifestyle is...

a few more things

i generally get a big thing of chicken breasts (cheaper that way) cook up about 8-10 at a time and put them in containers ready for the next couple of days... chopping up romaine, peppers and tomato and throwing them in a bowl can be done the night before or even a few bowls at a time (i tend to do it fresh for each meal)...

preparing and managing the meals is probably the hardest part of all this, so don't get discouraged if there are days when you slip and eat the pizza or whatever, just don't make it a habit...

Hey KB -- I do that every day -- get a reasonable size soft side cooler and a couple of those freezer pack things and tupperware. You need to work out what you are going to eat the night before -- here's an ex of a typical day that I pack:

1) breakfast - oatmeal & protein mix -- at home
2) chicken & salad
3) protein mix or protein mix & soy yogurt
4) chicken or steak & salad + brown rice
5) protein mix

I also carry an extra protein bar & protein mix or two. I have a 1.5 liter bottle of water in one those thermos carry cases for bottled water and an extra plastic liquid bottle so I can mix my protein mix in that ("shaker")

Maybe carry some fruit as well . Its amazing what you can do when you need to be "self contained"!

I've been doing this for over a year bringing everythign to work. If you don't have access to a microwave you have to be a little more creative. Sometimes for oatmeal you can just carry the oatmeal packet or in a plastic bag, get a cup and get a cup of hot water from a vendor or something.

U can do it! I can't help you with the catheter thing tho. (ewww.)

I remember bringing food to school way back when. My favorite were grapenuts and boiled egg whites. The eggs delivered a pungent smell that surrounded my area. People use to think I was just passing bad gas, but after awhile they realized that it was just my eggs.:D

hummm thanks ladies!! i guess i will be goin out to buy meself one of those cooler bag things.. i guess i could carry some stuff around with me... its just so damn annoying.. i like the freakin 20yr old bag lady.. always have a thousand things to carry...books, cloths, now chicken breasts, lol.. ohh yea! well.. thanks for all the ideas.. i will put them to good use.

Phem "why cant u pack ur food..u lazy ass" thank u sweetheart... but yeaaaaa ur right i am a lazy ass ;)

KB- know what you mean... everytime I leave my house, I look like I'm running away run from home (chicken, vegies, supps, huge water bottle, change of clothes, reading material & music for cardio)... it's part of the 'lifestyle' :)

since you're in school

why not rent a locker to put clothes/books/stuff you don't really need to drag back and forth regularily in... most colleges/universitys do have lockers (if not anywhere else than at the gym)...

it may mean dragging a larger load of clean clothes to school on monday and dirty clothes home on Friday, but its better than dragging clothes everyday... maybe make monday's and fridays the days that you get campus food for one or two of your meals... which would lighten the other food load...

what are you talking about u cant eat like regular during school?!!?! like lotsa other people have said, pack your food the night before...or in the morning before school if you're an early riser. put it in your locker or backpack.

well i dunno what grade you're in, but i'm in high school so i'm on campus from from 8 am to 3 pm...soooo looong i cant stand it. we have 30 minutes for lunch and thats the only time the school has designated for eating. BUT...we have 7 minute passing periods between classes. so i make a tuna sandwich....i use just 1 slice of whole wheat bread, cut it in half, stack it, mix a can of tuna w/ mayo, and slab that between the bread. bam...a complete meal w/ enough protein, carbs, and fat. you can make a shake or bring a protein bar too...whatever you can easily eat while you walk to your next class.

i had that same problem about the water. so here's how i solved that...
well i observed that i pee out my water like 30 to 40 minutes after i drink it. i have 55 minute classes. so i chug that water down in the first 25 minutes of class and it'll be ready to flush by the time passing period comes. i still take small sips in the second half of class, but if i have too much then it will be pushin to come out during my next class.

hope this helps...good luck

that's actually a great idea... i keep telling myself that i'll get me one of those...

What I did was eat on the way there, eat on the way home, and eat in class. Take your back pack with you, a small cooler that can fit inside of it, and get one of those ice packs you would use to keep a baby's formula cool. Put your food in there. I took chicken and cheese sandwiches, pb&j's, hard boiled eggs, some kellogs raisin squares for a snack, 2 packs of instant microwave oatmeal, usually a small chicken breast precooked from teh night before, and a can of tuna(ick). Just go to Kmart or whever and get the Martha Stewart jog bottles with the screw on tops, put your protein powder in there, when its time, just go to the student union or gas station and buy a little carton of milky and mix it in the tumbler. Celltech works great that way too and just use the water fountain. It can be done, Im living proof.

ladyhawk... oh another thing

maybe u have as many mood swings as i do;) we could probably learn a lil from each other:) peace

I feel for ya.......I start in a few weeks again myelf. I take protein drinks, bars, and i pack a cooler now....i make stuff in containers to take, i eat between classes and sometimes in class. my professors know im going to be eating and drinkin first day of class:) boiled eggs, tuna, salads, veggies, peanuts, etc.....i eat it all. Try to plan out your day and your meal timing. Eat bigger meals before class and smaller snacks between etc. You get used to it and you will get into a routine. Goodluck sweetie!!!!!:D

hey kbgrl

no prob ... as long as my advice can help others im willing to give ... ahhh thats in the past girl thats old news to me lol .. anyways if you have advice for me im willing to listen and if i can give it to you im hoping you will listen to ... thats what we are here for ... besides i think of all of you as my family my sisters hehehe .......;) :family: :bigkiss: ........ friends ????

i got away with a lot of shit in college

i used to bring tupperware of tuna or pasta or anything for that matter and always sit in the back of the class and eat...sometimes id woof it done like the 5 minutes before the professor comes in class or even during class, 75% of the time they wouldnt notice, just the students, and for the real cool professors, theyd come back to my seat and ask what i was eating and say shit like "eww that crap stinks" and laugh and he'd go back to the fron of the class. i used to stink the whole back of the class room up with tuna and hard boiled eggs lol

protein bars are easy of course, also make a shake in between class and drink it during the next class.

as far as drinking thats easy, but peeing well hold it in and goto the bathroom as often as u can or do what i do, tell the professors that you have an overactive bladder and pee a lot and then they will not get annoyeed when u goto the bathroom during class.
