Angel! The string has been cut
TOO short. You need to have a new IUD implanted. The string needs to be LONGER, if at least 1" is exposed from the cervix it will curl UP and be out of the way.
The string really is like fine fishing line. The shorter it's cut, the stiffer it becomes. And, as you know, they NEED the string to remove the IUD so it can't be completely eliminated.
Trust me, I had an IUD for a LONG time, never had problems with it. Long string, no pokes.
Oh, and Feisty, yes, it makes your period VERY painful and those pains increase the longer the IUD is in. The pain can be alleviated by having a new IUD inserted but ... well, nothing comes without a price *sigh*
Totally agree with you, Angel, plastic all the way. I had one they don't even have in this country anymore, I think, called the Lippes Loop. No hormones, no pointy sharp edges. IUD's don't need horomones, just the fact of something IN the uterus maintains a hostile environment for egg implantation.
I like my BC method -- vasectomy
