my super basic home workout... thoughts?

im only doing 4 super basic exercises with the goal of strength and size gains. the bench press, pendlay row, squat and hanging clean and press. each lift is done with a target weight of 3x8 starting with 50% weight 1x8 then 75% 1x8 for a warm up. If target is hit at 3x8 for my working sets ill up the weight 5 pounds next time around. Im currently working out mon,wed and friday alternating between two workouts with a day of rest between and two on the weekend.

workout 1 bench press and pendlay row with some ab work

workout 2 squat and hanging clean and press with some ab work

again my goal is size and strength so im hitting heavy but sure singles at the end of my 3x8 weight. 20% more weight seems to be a comfortable, sure, yet heavy weight for me. I have a power rack so im safe to workout alone. I want to through this out there for anyone looking to workout at home because you just need a bench, a rack and a straight bar with a good amount of weight to get a pretty good workout. im also looking for any suggestions and feedback from some experienced lifters. Do you think it is ok to hit heavy singles every workout? It has been upping my weights and I havent had a problem so far.

I think it is a waste to have a single more than twice a month.

I agree with above poster. But it's also more of a preference, so if it works for you then why not. Also, why are you limiting yourself to only these workouts? I you can throw in a couple more "super basic" workouts and get even more out of it. Like dead lift, military press, variations of more rows. Make a lower/upper split or even a pull/push split. Just my opinion though. If this is working for you then stick with it and do what you want.

This looks to be fashioned after the SL 5x5 program. I'd say go all in on the 5x5's for 12 weeks; you just have to add dead lifts, and squat everyday. Check out my 5x5 log on the forum, go straight to page 2 for the SL layout. Eat a clean bulking diet and will will def make gains.

thanks for the replies. mabe ill lay off the singles. the only reason im not adding in deads is because my lower back is seeming to get a good amount of work. I tend to over train easily. I was thinking 8 reps is pretty good for size n strength but mabe 5x5 is something to consider. I was debating buying a curl bar and adding in lying extentions and curls into the mix. my arms seem to be lagging a little, but torso and legs have been growing well. i thinks ill stick to what i got for now but will look into some of the different 5x5 systems. thanks
