I had been taking catapres prescribed by my shrink. I was having problems with being addicted to Lortabs. The first thing doctors do when you are quitting is that they give you medicine to keep your blood pressure down. Well that catapres fucked me up for weight lifting. Has anyone else ever have this happen? I literally mean that my previous warm up weights were heavy. I used to get 5-6 reps squatting with 315-335 pounds. Tonight, it took all I had to get 4 with 225. Not to mention that I was dizzy as hell.

sorry to hear about that bro. hope you dont have to be on it for too long. lots of us(including me) have had addictions to pain meds.

Bro, forget about your weights for now and get right... Then you can do a monster cycle and get back where you were and beyond!

Just be happy you are not squatting 125lbs like me. I just can't do it b/c of my back and knees. I gave it a valiant effort I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

Sorry to hear that. Pain killers suck to quit I am with you on that. Not hard really since the withdrawal period is like a week or two (at least for me it was) but sucks none the less. Leg pains, hard to sleep but definately worth quitting. I did it cold turkey and was up and running in a couple of weeks. Stick with getting off them first that is more important than your gains! Once you are off you will be fine. Just keep in your head it will be over soon and believe it and if you do stay off them then I promise you that you will be glad you did in no time. If you get depressed also remember that could be a symptom and that goes away too.

Thanks for the support. The strength loss was so dramatic that I felt embarrased to be in the gym. As for the Lortabs, Tomorrow will make 14 days clean. My stomach is still sick but I can still hold down a meal. I've stopped with the catapres. It's just going to take some time for it to get out of my blood stream.

My whole mess started with rotator cuff surgery. The surgeon wrote out the RX for Lortab. I quickly realized that those pills were giving me one heck of a buzz. From then on I was hooked.

I've heard that particular drug can have some side effects.

plifter, fuck what everyone may be thinking - go about your training. Strength loss, no sweat. Bum all you weights WAY down, focus on core lifts, form and ROM. Take a little coast in your training cycle.

those pill can be a bitch!

to be honest with you guys...I'm not quite sure why they call them painkillers....I've done as many as 6-8 percs at 1 time and they did nothing for pain....

I think there more addicting than actually being something that supposedly kills pain...

damn those painkillers man...Stay away from them. I have lost two friends from them, and the rest are in jail. I never had a problem with them but i had a problem with tranquilizers, and the way i got off them was because i had a stronger addiction and thats Bodybuilding.

the side effects will wear off... eventually you wont get tired and dizzy. Im on clonidine the pill form of ur patch ur taking. Doesnt effect me anymore negatively except lower my BP. Bet u get thirsty as fuck huh?
