my JM press video

Every video I see of you has clean form. The only difference between those and the way we do them is that we tend to not come as far down, and are more over the mouth at the bottom point. If it works, though, that's what matters. I know mine saved my ARSE on my 1st bench attempt. Wouldn't have gotten back into the groove if I hadn't been doing these religiously.

I think they look great. Any elbow stress? Feeling it mostly in the tris? Accessory work or second move?

Not bad imo, another good version is to keep your elbows about chest high and bring the weight down above your throat/collarbone area and let your forearms hitting your bicep stop you at the bottom.

looks good -- let it drift back toward your face more though, just a couple more inches.

spatts i've been doing them directly after speed work...what should the weight look like in relation to my 1rm? This is only my 3rd week doing them...but shouldn't the weight be higher?

I feel it alot in my tris...not alot of elbow stress really.

what happened to that advatar of you? changed it so quick?

thanks for the comments guys

LOL...someone said I looked sad. I can't have that! :D

Looks like everyone agreed that you could drop the bar higher up, like over your face.

I'd work up to a 3RM, personally.

Sounds like you're feeling it right where you should, though.

I downloaded this video the other day man...it is going to help me a lot I think. I have recently added board presses back into my routine but may substitute these in every once in a while (I use board presses as an auxillary exercise).

What should your 1RM on the JM press be compared to your 1RM flat bench (raw is all I know)?

Thanks man..

clint, i have no idea...i asked the same question

If spatts said she JMed the weight on her first bench attempt in a competition...i'm guessing it should be close to a 3rm?

mine is pretty weak then :(

There are lots of different forms used for JM press, and depending on the form it will change the percentage of your 1RM on flat bench that it equates to. I would say anywhere from 50-80% of your flat bench max depending on the person, and the form used.
