This is where people post up "when I was in teh army, we walked barefoot for 45 milesss..."
The article IS true, young kids are fatter. What's the option? Have fewer recruits admitted and sent to basic training? So when the bus comes up, there's 20 kids on there instead of 30? Fighting wars is all about "numbers of troops" -- the army is stretched thin (marines can brag all they want, they're tiny and don't need to have huge numbers) and to fight, you need lotsa soldiers.
Also, this aint' 1940 anymore - people aren't landing in normandy. Most soldiers never run around with guns in a foreign city. They fix hummers, open boxes, insert needles, press buttons and stand guard with guns. You don't need to run 12 minute miles for that - so I see it from there side too.
Wanna fix it, stop letting parents feed their kids so they can feel good. I'm looking at you, mexican families in la!
