Military bros (or non), what say you

This is where people post up "when I was in teh army, we walked barefoot for 45 milesss..."

The article IS true, young kids are fatter. What's the option? Have fewer recruits admitted and sent to basic training? So when the bus comes up, there's 20 kids on there instead of 30? Fighting wars is all about "numbers of troops" -- the army is stretched thin (marines can brag all they want, they're tiny and don't need to have huge numbers) and to fight, you need lotsa soldiers.

Also, this aint' 1940 anymore - people aren't landing in normandy. Most soldiers never run around with guns in a foreign city. They fix hummers, open boxes, insert needles, press buttons and stand guard with guns. You don't need to run 12 minute miles for that - so I see it from there side too.

Wanna fix it, stop letting parents feed their kids so they can feel good. I'm looking at you, mexican families in la!

I read for every US "teeth arm" individual there's 12 people (in)directly supporting him, so yea.

I agree with the British army & US marine outlook; every individual regardless of role should undergo a basic CMS (Common Military Syllabus) to learn field craft, skill at arms, map / compass reading, first aid, physical training etc. to better incorporate them in to the "green machine" or whatever.

Soldier first, trades person second.

I was under the impression though that - like the British armed forces - we're so well recruited now that we can afford not to lower standards as we were doing pre-recession, so why you're apparently lowering PT standards confuses me somewhat.

The Army has become so technical that killing only requires pushing a button in most cases. When the Armed forces need killing machines they get heartless mutha fuckers like me to do their work. That is all I have to say. Word to yo Mutha. ANd only a geigh would join the ARMY any ways, HOOOOORAHHHHH bishes.
