Ok, 7 weeks ago I decided to give the Max Ot Training system a try. You can find it on www.ast-ss.com. For those that have never seen the program it is rather simple. Sets are 4-6 reps and never vary. Basically you warm up to do 2 or 3 core sets and then you are done with the exercise. Training sessions are around 35-55 minutes and the goal is to overload the muscle and get a pump. Getting a pump plus a muscle burn is bad.
Well, After 7 weeks I can honestly say this program works. I have been dieting, but I have only lost 5 pounds, while increasing strength in all my core lifts and I look much harder than I did 6 weeks ago. I upped my cardio while doing the program, since my work-outs are designed for muscle overload and not muscle fatigue.
It take a lot of discipline to walk away from the squat rack or bench after 3 heavy sets and not dropping down for a burn-out set or a fatigue set, but I am starting to see the benefits of not wasting my time on the fatigue type training. Although the burn feels like you are growing, I am convinced (at least for me) it does not really make you grow.
Just thought I would share this with those who were thinking of giving this program a try.
