That's ridiculous.

I noted that after I saw this - http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/04/17/vtech.shooting/index.html
the gun laws in your state are pretty lax, made it a piece of cake for him to get a firearm.

He would not have been able to make such a purchase in my state.

ultimately none of it matters - if someone wants a gun to commit a heinous act they will get one

if they can not get a firearm - they will find other means to their desires

Like a truckload of fertillizer. Or a tanker filled with anhydrous ammonia.

I'm not sure if you're mocking me, being sarcastic or both.

When I was in college - the school was evacuated and the bomb squad had to disarm a bomb found in the school.

Not at all. I am just pointing out if Cho didn't have a gun he could use much more powerful means of causing calamity.

actually, states that allow people to carry a concealed firearms have seen 78% decrease in public shootings.

now lets compare that countries that have strict gun control laws:

"In the four years after the UK banned handguns in 1996, gun crime rose by 40 per cent. Similarly, since Australia's 1996 laws banning many guns, armed robberies rose by 51 per cent, unarmed robberies by 37 per cent, assaults by 24 per cent and kidnappings by 43 per cent. Although murders fell by 3 per cent, manslaughter rose by 16 per cent."

hmmm.....

You're being selective with your choice of countries.
Why not compare that with the extremely low rate of gun crime in Japan??

He still could've made bombs, but he didn't.
But why go to the trouble and the risk of buying and mixing ingredients for something that might not work? The guns were easy to get and they were enough.

I could make a great joke about being an english major but I'm going to bite my tongue

No he was just medicated for depression, had multiple write ups on campus for stalking women, had recently set fire to a campus dorm, had written multiple plays detailing violence and twisted acts against upon others.

ALL THE SIGNS WERE THERE

but no one listened.

http://newsbloggers.aol.com/2007/04/17/cho-seung-huis-plays/

Obviously people were listening. Students tried to chat with him and include him. He was referred for counseling.

But what do you suggest they do? Submit a police report on every weird student? Jail them indefinitely? Then the person's REALLY gonna have a beef!!

First off you do not know what effect the tumor had on the guys thinking
Second off mental and medical help before he became suicidal may have helped.

This is one of the problems with this shooting. There too many people who have "educations" but yet still making stupid assumptions.

First of all you do not know what effect the tumor did not have on the guy's thinking.
Second off... do you think mental and medical "help" is easy, inexpensive or guaranteed? There's a ton of homeless people with mental problems who aren't getting help...
