Make Your Own Weight Gain

For anyone interested in making their own weight gain product here is a nice recipe that you can make yourself and not spend a ton of money.

Mix the following:
1 part maltodextrin (think 70cc scoop)
1 part whey isolate
1 part micellar casein
1 part waxy maize

The following ingredients in equal volumes of 70cc (level) will yield approximately 529 calories with 39 grams of protein. If you purchase 5 pounds of pure unflavored whey isolate and 5 pounds of micellar casein, along with 10 pounds of maltodextrin and 10 pounds of waxy maize, you will have 30 pounds of very high quality weight gainer and approximately 135 servings. taken at 3-4 servings per day, this will last 30-40 days. If you are in the United States, you can order all these ingredients from one low price at MuscleFeast.com for only about $100, including shipping. You will need to add some flavoring, I recommend Nestle Quick for flavoring and you are all set. Just make sure you also eat a well balanced diet along with this mix.

Many weight gainers come with about 1100-1300 calories and 40 grams of protein and you only get about 10-12 servings for $40.00. In my humble opinion, you can't eat a normally with this amount of powder intake and therefore, your overall caloric intake is lowered. By taking the lower caloric mix, you not only get a weight gainer that you can eat with a normal diet, you also get the benefit of having micellar casein (slow digesting protein) and waxy maize (fast digesting complex carb); two higher end ingredients that you don't find most retail versions of weight gainer.
