low carb bars+ what counts as carbs?

I notice that many low carb bars such as the 3 carb bars by iron tek,the low carb bars2 by biochem and the doctors diet bars by universal have small print on the label saying that glycerine while included in the calorie count is omitted from the carb count because it has a negligible impact on blood sugar level. I'm trying to stay below 10g per day carbs-do these bars help or hurt me?

what does that mean

"Note: Glycerin, polydextrose, xylitol, and maltitol, while included in the "Calories" count, have been omitted from the "Total Carbohydrate" count, as they have only a negligible impact on blood sugar levels."

Well, here is the deal with Glycerol. It is not a carbohydrate..yes, true, and true is the fact that it does not raise your insulin levels. But, Glycerol is stored in the liver as glucose (basically refilling liver glucose stores)...this is why I find that glycerol is not a good idea while in Ketosis.

P.S. glycerol has a calorie count of about 4.13 cal per g

Yes, MindGame, you can have 1 or 2 bars a day. Just, watch the calorie count and you will be fine.

Remember, those bars are about $3 U.S each, so I don't know how economical they are. But, again, that's only my view.
