looking for the study about training only one side!

Do anybody know where this thread is? I have done a search but could not find it...It was talking about training only one side of your body and you could get strenght gain on both side...

Thanks

I have seen one I will try to find it. I actually did this 3 years ago when I broke my arm. I seemed to keep me from loosing as much muscle in my broke arm.

hey thanks a lot Nautica! I am in the exact situation as you were three years ago this is why I am looking for this study...Karma for you bro!

Thanks alot to anyone who help

I was gonna scream at you and hurl obscenities since I couldn't figure out why the fuck anyone would want to do this. If you broke your arm though that might explain it. Carry on then and good luck with it.

Bro,
I'm still recovering from Knee surgery on my right leg. On the advice of my coach, I've been training my left leg hard since one week after the surgery-and the strength loss in my right leg has been almost negligable. Size loss, while still present, has been minimal as well. Training one side will help maintain your hormone levels, which will in turn induce growth in the lame limb as well as the strong one.

Training whatever you can during an injury is always the best idea.

Good luck bro.

From my understanding it also has to do with the body striving for symmetry.

Working one side sends signals to the brain that the body must regenerate the damaged muscle. Then the brain sends a signal out to not only that muscle but the corresponding muscle on the other side of the body to rebuild. Hence muscle growth on both sides.

Damn, I wish I could find that article - it is buried at least 3 years back - but i will keep looking.

Yeah i know i have read articles on this too. I am pretty sure that strenght will cross over but that hypertrophy will not. When i have separated my shoulders i did notice a difference in size of both sides but strenght equaled out almost emediately after training both sides again.
