Have they tested her for Hep C and also HIV? HIV can attack the liver very quickly in some cases.
There is something in her body which is causing the sudden deterioration. Push the docs do all possible tests...Don't let them sit on one thing at a time.

I wish her all the best and hope that it's something reversible with medication and time..

HIV attacks CD4+ T cells, dendritic cells and macrophages, not the liver.
This isnt viral, its PSC....
You need to look into transplants, get her on a list ASAP.
