Lifting without a partner

Who here lifts without a partner. I recently moved and I now work out alone. I have been relying mostly on dumbells for chest/shoulders. Has anyone gotten huge without a spotter? Does anyone have a link to a routine that focuses on lifting alone? On occasion I've had my girlfriend spot me on bench when maxing out but she works out in the evenings and I have been going in the mornings. I'm sure I don't have to explain that working out with your girlfriend isn't much better than lifting alone. Anyway thanks for letting me vent.

No offense, but anyone who thinks lifting with a partner or not makes no difference are either retarded or have never had a good partner!!!!

I lift alone, and i know how to channel my own inspiration and intensity, but there's no substitue for liftin with someone who is really a good partner. Even if they dont spot you or lift the same exercises, if all they did was stand their during your sets and yell at you like "Come on 4 more. You got it, put the put that fucking weight up!!!" it will make a difference.

I lift well alone, i am very dedicated and driven, but at any time any chance, i would rather lift with a good partner.

Of course, if you get a bad partner, you might as well kill them cause it will ruin the workout.

I had my best gains when i lifted with my partner back in Chicago... sure, he had a pro-card, and knew the insides and out of lifting, pushed me to places I never went... I think it mattered though. :)

Now, I have taken that knowledge and added it to my ever growing pool. :) I would like to keep working out with him though, he is in Chicago and I am here. :(

I workout alone. There are only a handful of lifts that I would ever use a spotter on. When I bench, I just ask someone standing around. No big deal.

I've had workout partners in the past and it's never worked out. They just slowed me down. I couldn't focus because they were always talking or cracking jokes, etc... I'm very focused when I'm in the gym and don't need any extra motivation.

I'm not saying partners are all bad, but in my experiences, it's hard to find someone that has the same goals. I can see how a good workout partner could be gold though, just have to find them first.

Yeah, good lifting partners are hard to find. Over the years i have had several partners and i have only had ONE good one.

One guy spent all the time talking about some nani he found on the internet. Another was retartded and talked only about the simpsons and would not do the difficult exercises. Another didn't want to do lower body with me. Another just wasn't interested in getting bigger. Another [again] wouldn't do lower body with me.

Most people in the gym are worthless, and the most of the good people are at some other gym, already have partners, or dont want one cause they realize that most people in the gym suck.

In my lifetime, I've had one good training partner and that was my father. Other then that they have all been a bunch of inept idiots that either rellied on me totally, or would not listen to any suggestions.

I defiantely prefer to trraina alone. Thje only lift I ever really need a spot on are the bench and incline press. But that is what they invented power cages for.

Finding a "good" partner who can lift on your schedule is damn near impossible. Plus a partner will add at least a half hour to your gym time.

There are plenty of guys at my gym who know there shit enough to give me a good spot, so I go with that.
