leg curl vs reverse hyper

sysopt

New member
can someone explain why the leg curl is considered worthless to powerlifters but the reverse hyper is quite valuable?

I have used a real reverse hyper and there is no comparison. First off, the leg curl only works part of your hammy. The rev hyper, works the ntire hamstring, glute and lower back. You just cannot duplicate the benefits from a reverse hyper. Pull thru's are always mentioned as an alternative to the rev hyper but they really pale in comparison.

The leg curl is nothing but an exercise for girls who want to look good in panty hose. You will never get strong legs from doing those pussified leg curls. Take that shitty idea back to the Denise Austin website!

The leg curl machines are expensive also. They can cost the same amount as a reverse hyper ($1000). Now go and sell your crappy pink pms leg curl machine to Richard Simmons or your emaciated legs will look just like his horrible hammstrings!!

My sorry ass gym doesn't have a reverse hyper machine would stiff legged deadlifts be a better alternative than the leg curl machine?

the only substitute for a reverse hyper is a reverse hyper.

It does so much more than work the hamstrings.

it also restores and strengthens the lower back

The leg curl serves to work the biceps femoris, which serves to flex the knee. The reverse hyper will work the semi-tendonosis and semi-membranosis, which serve to extend the torso, and this is far more relevant to squatting and deadlifting.

I do both actually...but my rev hyper is only simulated. I lay a piece of plywood across my power rack and just use my bodyweight. Not too bad. Feels great to recoup the lower back!!!

1k for a rev hyper...hmmm...do you know a welder? I do.

Well

I made a rack attachment for my reverse hyper needs at home. It has a chain for loading the weights, and total cost is only +/- 40 dollars. It holds me(240~) and at least 130(never pushed it too hard). Plans are on the web for doing it this way.

Can you post where those plans are????
