...help a brotha out.

Please list a brief outline of you diet and cardio. Specifically when you are cutting. Also - please list your weight and approximate BF%.

For example:

5'6"
140 pounds at ~12%
Diet is 40/30/30 split at ~11 calories per pound of bodyweight.
Weight training is 3 days per week for about 40 min.
Cardio is three times a week for 45-60 min.

The Dealio is I am training a woman who believes in 6 hour per day workouts and 1000 calories a day. I can't reason with her to get out of starvation mode. Was going to use you Girlies outlines and show her what type of results can be made.

Thank you very much.

i agree, i'd get the heck away from her, if she has this type of attitude i wouldn't put it by her to sue you when she lands herself in the hospital or something...

hate to be non-supportive, ask and i will delete this post

6 hrs a day.....1000 calories??? Is this chick Anorexic? Sure sounds like an Anorexic or Bullemic mind set to me. Dude she needs PSYCHOLOGICAL Therapy not PHYSICAL therapy. As long as she follows that routine she will look like an emaciated, skinny, fat person.....that is if she doesn't die first. Her body is feasting on her muscles just to stay alive.

1000 calories is INSANE! you will lose no weight and get no where with that kind of diet! u will actually gain weight and slow your metabolism way DOWN! Your body needs food, and that is almost starvation! You also need fat to burn fat, good fats like olive oil, flax oil, natural peanutbutter etc. 6 hours??? cmon that is crazy too. Serious ISSUES here. There is no need for weight training or cardio when you are on a dumb 1000 calorie diet. it will get you no results and be a pure waste of Time! She seriously needs to educate herself and get some help. She needs to understand how the body works and what is needs and do some studying up on things regarding nutrition and lifting. You dont have to starve yourself to lose weight and shed the bodyfat. You just need to eat often and eat clean, and do some good weight training and cardio. No magic there just the basics.....

she is gonna be one bony bitch... please feed her and school her!!!

EAT protein/carb combos every 3-4 hours
EAT protein approx. to your lean mass ie: 1lb of lean mass to 1 g of protein
LIFT 3-5 times a week (about an hour or so if that)
CARDIO half hour- hour max (not to sacrifice muscle) as often as possible for cutting ( i do 5 days in the morning on an empty stomach for 25 minutes)
CALORIES ~1800-2000

i am 5'5 138 and 17% bodyfat 36-26-35

Well...

...she is not anorexic by any means. 5'6" at 180 pounds. A local doctor told her to fo the 1000 calories each day with ~70% coming from carbs.

SHe really feels that she sould be in the gym a minimun of 5 days a week for at least 3 hours at a time. Half of that time is treadmill/ellpitical trainer.

So, no exaggeration at all.

Funny, I set up just a diet plan for her about a year and a half ago. She lost from 210 down to 180 by simply following the diet and walking in her neighborhood three days a week.

I give up. I told her that I would not be a party to her starvation. I feel sort of bad, though. I really think that I might be her last shot at getting HEALTHY(notice I didn't say lean).

Cornie - you sure seem to get the "interesting" cases to work with....

It seems that a lot of people believe in the simple answer of just starve down to whatever size. Problem is your body is a very dynamic thing that will react to any extreme. If she has access to the internet, you might send her to www.about.com to read some of the articles about weight loss & diet. (I find about.com to be one a pretty readable level for the newbie.) Or also many of the threads on Elite! She obviously needs to have her understanding of weight loss turned around.

Starvation diets will screw you up - it may work the first time, but do it a couple of times, starve down, gain it back - suddenly you can't starve down anymore. The body has been shocked so bad it thinks it is entering a famine period and holds onto everything it has.

Cut down your calorie intake - its very possible significant required nutrients are being neglected - this will throw the body off.

Yeah - I seem to attract the ones with "baggage"

Thanks Girlie - gave her the addy this morning.

She promised to follow the outlined diet on Friday afternoon.

Weighed her this morning. Lost 3 pounds since then. Her energy level is WAY up and so are her poundages.

I have her eating a 40p/30f/30/c diet with a good multi-vit/mineral.

Hopefully she will stay with the diet and reduced cardio.

Thanks to all the replies.
