Propofol isn't a controlled substance.

If they used propofol to induce sleep for his insomnia, and he died as a result of that, then yea, they probably will (and should) be charged with criminally negligent homicide. Propofol isn't intended to be used that way.

If he had a dislocated shoulder, and they used it to relocate it, then that would be an indication to use it (even in his house). There is nothing that states that propofol (or even controlled substances) must be administered in a hospital setting.

Well I've never seen it come in bags. They're either in regular vials or amps to be drawn into a syringe for times when you dont need more than 20mL to get someone sent into twilight before you turn on the gas during surgery. (it would probably only take half that maybe for Mike)

They come in bottles of 250 mL (i think thats how big they are, pdizzle might be able to clear that up) for use with an infusion pump.

I dont know if they have barcodes or serials or not.

But theoretically stuff like that should be able to be tracked.

The issue isn't one of it being a controlled substance, and it exceeds malpractice, because it is intentionally performing a procedure that a M.D. would know to be life threatening.

Of course, the doc that gets busted isn't going to say he adminstered it for insomina.
