On a ckd you MUST EAT ENOUGH FAT! It seems like a lot of fat at first, but just eat healthy fats (mono and polyunsaturated) and its no big deal. You really need to count calories and macro # of nutrients (pro, fat, carbs) on a ckd for it to work properly until you experienced doing it and can judge without counting calories, or else follow a daily schedual of food. Otherwise you may not be losing anything if your eating to much. Also you should try to limit saturated fat and eliminate transfat (hydrogenated oils.) Eating salad is fine, but just have a little lemon juice (tbsp) and olive oil. DO not eat the cafeterias dressing, because it most likely has a bunch of carbs. In place of the saturated fats add in a few tbsp of flax oil and olive oil a day. Eating eggs for breakfast is fine, but have 2 whole eggs, tbsp of live oil, and 3 egg whites, don't eat all whole eggs. By lean ground beef and make hamburgers, or buy lean ones, and then add olive oil to get the fat, instead of buying the premade burgers with 25g of fat (15g sat.) per serving. Also ground turkey is good for turkey burgers or just regular turkey. Also lots of chicken, tuna, and a little lean steak. The only time to eat higher saturated fat is when you first start ckd, and the day after a carb up to get back into ketosis faster. Watch out for all the so called "low carb" products that are popping up everywhere with the akins craze in full force, because a lot of these have too many carbs despite being "low carb." The reason is they make the serving size real small, like a 1/4 of a real serving size and reduce carbs, and up the fat, and sell it for 3 times the price of the same stuff with carbs. Most will kick you out of ketosis if they have more then a couple net carbs. You should shoot for 20 net carbs per day (meaning you subtract fiber from the total carbs). Eating lots of low carb veggis like brocolli with every meal is the way to survive this diet without going insane.
