Keto affecting strength ???

kling

New member
Can a keto diet affect or maybe ruin my strength. My training is kind of west side inspired. I've got atleast 30% of body fat and want to loose a some of it. I do weight trainnig 3 days a week. And is it possible to gain strenght while on a keto diet ?

Keyo diets are notorios for lowering strength levels as well as energy. Your body has no emediate source of energy to pull from because your glucose/glycogen levels are so low. I would be suprised if you gain any strength. What about throwing some cardio into routine and keeping your protien levels high to lose weight. It might not be as fast but its a better way to keep strenght and loose bodyfat.
Just my thoughts

maybe, but i have kept a pretty high protein/low carbo diet for some time, but the scale always shows the same numbers. for months   So i'm gonna try this keto stuf out. i if notice loss in strenght i'l stop doin it. Im only on my 4'rd day now.

strength goes bye-bye on keto... i have never seen anyone get huge or increddibly strong on keto....... they only try to hold on to as much as possible while it slips away..........

30%!!!!!

i eat around 4-6000 calories a day and i am a fat but at 20%

i would like to know what your eating?????

cardio is more ideal than keto

keto is use best within the last few weeks before a bodybuilding contest....... not to start off.

Keto is fine, but you need to CARB UP with a carb/protein drink right after EVERY TIME that you train. I had a lot of success with strenght gains/fat loss by drinking 2 met-rx or other MRP (80 grams pro, 40 grams carbs min fat) after each training session.

Nutrition is way overrated. With the keto make sure that you get 1 gram of protein for each pound you weigh and do carb ups and you should do fine.

Take a look at prisioners. They eat SHIT meals with TINY amounts of protein but they train hard and get VERY strong. The key to getting strong is and always will be

1. genetics- Some people will just get strong easily (we all know what I mean).

2. Training hard. If you bust your ass and train hard, with superior genetics then you will get strong.

3. Train smarter not harder sometimes. Switch exercises and keep up the variety.

I have really great genetics and I get stronger pretty easily so this is my opinion. I don't know what it's like for a hardgainer, but if you have the genetics and train hard, you can grow in keto!

i do some cardio, but only 2 days a week. i do boxing for about 1 hour. I dont really know what kind of cardio i suitable for strength training. and i have always been overweight so i have nerer bein out running. I kind of hate cardio :p I love strength though.
