question. My reps for my legs are (23/21/18/16) and for my upper body (15/13/12/10) Some weights are too easy and then if I bump it up sometimes I can't get through the rep so I go back down. Is this ok, will this actually increase my strengh or do nothing?

Lookn muhc better bro. Love Handels were designed by satan. And I am evil so I have them as well. I hope that the mass increase soon will help get rid of them a little. Clen in my PCT prob will help to. We will see. I hate talkin gabout it cause it just makes me wanna start that much sooner. So fuckin broke.
 
sgt, i take 2.5 scoops of amp 02 before my workout and 6 cee tabs post. it comes out to around 8g of cee. i just ordered some more amp and cee and also volumizer from the afstore. ive heard anyone use the volumizer but it sounded interesting so i bought it. i will be trying the ckd diet in a couple weeks i think. it will prob take me a lil bit longer to plan out the meals though. its hard for me to switch to that when im so happy lifting heavy. hard to break out of a routine. figure ill try the ckd for a couple weeks and then switch back to the cee and mass workouts for 6-8 weeks and then back to ckd for another 2. ill try this cycle and see how it works.

DZLS: Semi agree with ya on the rep ranges for CK. 1. I think legs respond well to high reps sometimes because we use them constantly all day to hold our own body weight. 2. lower rep ranges are for strength indeed.

CK: If you don't know how your body responds best yet, just go with it and see what happens... It is good to keep changing reps/sets up to keep your body guessing and in turn adapting and gaining strength and/or size.

JMT: DAAAAAMN... that's alot of CEE! Try lowering the dose to see if that's what is bothering your stomach?

Hick: hahaha... oh yeah, love handles... or rather, hate handles, cuz I hate 'EM! suck. So glad to start getting a flatter lower abs, it's kinda exciting... lol.... getting rid of the fat kid accesories is a bitch!

Not to hijack the thread, but just commenting on the reps. Lower your reps for both legs and upperbody if you're trying to add size. And don't pyramid the weights either. (Another ineffective "Weider Principle") Stick with the same weight and reps for each workout then just try and "one up" yourself the next time around. If I go any higher than 8 reps I won't add any size or strength. :)

To add, I think she is also working with a trainer for her show, and must ask said trainer specifically why she is doing these things & have him/her explain every thing so she understands his thinking, even if it doesn't make sense to us ... (big surprise ;))

CK, like Sassy said, ask lots of questions ... You will get many other opinions on here, NOT that they would be wrong, but most likely different from you trainer

I do agree with the what the guys are saying as well, but I have no idea of trainers thought process here ...
 
Good to know. We have this trainer in our gym who looks like Mario Batali from food network. :) Always telling people they need to drop some bodyfat if they want to "see their muscles."

Interesting in knowing their philosophies on high reps. I increased my 15 rep max by 30 pounds on the squat and attempted a new 5 rep max and could barely get 2. My overall strength went down actually....That was years ago. But then again there's always someone with great genetics who grows regardless of what they're doing. :evil:
 
I will have to ask my trainer, thanks for all the opinions, even my husband wants them to lower, cause I am spending like 2 and a half hours at the gym. But I told him to be patient two more weeks, and she is changing my schedule. I am not sure if she was trying to get me to build muscle or lean or what? But I will ask on monday!

I have built some muscle, came home last night and my dad said I have bigger biceps them him (and I do, hee hee) pluse I have noticed a difference in my legs now, not a lot but enough that I notice. My husband always asks me now if I am flexing my muscles and I am not so I guess all in all the torcher has been worth it! Body fat testing next week, and pics

haha Wouldnt call me smart. But I hold knowledge most of the time. Yes gettting into shape is rewarding. I went to Canada last night to hit windsor and the clubs on the strip. Its nice to have girls feel your body and grab your muscles. All whores though...too bad. Havent been eating real good this week but then again I have been lifting even on the weekends witch I usally get piss drunk and am hungover all weekend. So I see if I dont drink and I eat fairly good its better then just being a shithead.Got Back today Squats tommarow. OH I almost forgot. CK I think a 2.5 hour workout is crazy. I dont spend much more then 45-55 min EVER lifting. but if you go to the pool and hot tub thats a different story. For men and lifting test levels drop off after about 45 min. I dont know what it is for females. I only lift for reps from about 6-9 besides warm ups.

How did your test go? Talking about your weekends, aaahhh to be young again. :) The two and half includes the cardio but I agree it is way to long. But two more weeks and things change. What are lifting test levels?
 
Natural testarone levels. I havent taken the STD test yet because I have talked to the girl and she tested clean after we had sex so I think I will be alright. I will go get tested though on tuesday. Better safe the sorry! Even doing heavy squats will up natural testarone levels... thats another reason squats are so good for your body. And yes being young is nice...but knowing im getting older sucks! I need a 35 year old sugar momma from florida to take care of me. :) Some of those older ladies down have better plastic bodies then most girls my age anyway.

Got some lighter squats and back tommarow due to missing a day during the week. And ya thats right I said LIGHTER squats.. I think my legs need a little break from the slaughter of last week. Eating shitty now makes me feel shitty. Its kgreat because it makes me wanna always cook my own meals. But when I wanna eat out it makes me depressed. I am honestly gettin back on counting cals and all my shit this week. Keep me motivated fuckers!

Had a back workout today. I hate not getting a pump but I just dont unless doing dead lifts. We will see how sore I get tommarow. I wnt light n squats as well. Diet goes on tommarow. ENjoyed last nice bowl of spegetti with meat sause. Got the hot tub hooked up now and its REAL nice after a back workout... I think i might jump back in it. And for you guys that dont have one or the gym doesnt....FUCKERS I DO!

ive decided to skip counting cals this week. after 4 months straight, i need a break. i wont be eating crap, just dont care how many cals it comes to. since im not changing my meals too much, it will probably be close to what i normally take in. just needed a vent. about to go the gym and attempt 130 db lat rows. wish me luck

didnt try 130's today. felt a lil iffy in the gym and didnt want to push too hard. stayed at 120 for this week. couldnt really do my normal tri routine bc of my elbows really hurting. hopefully they will feel better next week.
 
gotcha... yeah, injury free is better than going heavy and then being out of the gym for a month :)

Damn... elbows still a problem! Try a few other variations that hit the same Tri head that your going for on the exercise that gives you pain?
 
Elbows still hurting eh? Mine never hurt after a workout it more just kinda felt strange and was to afraid to hurt myself when I first started with certain types of tri workouts. Backs not really sore today....fuckin hella frusterating. I tried just about everything too. Roar. Eating good today. Mucsle milk/skim 2 eggs some redline and skoal. Now I gotta cook again before next class.

So I did awesome at the gym today, noticed something funny my wrist supports have an elastic I put around my thumb. Well now between my thumb and finger on both hands it is bruised and swollen. Didn't stop me today though! My chest and triceps are hurting! and I finished all my french dip (skull cracker) reps!

Actually, my hair was never this red thick & curly until after the chemo ... :) I shaved my head, didn't wait for the long hair to fall out ... cut & buzzzzzzzzzzzz right off .. pretty nice melon I might add :)

I have to carry around baby pics b/c no ones believes my hair ... maybe If I scan some pics from when I was younger, you'll see the light, STRAIGHT & thin blondeish hair... pretty funny... Legs have always been easy for me (relatively). I have some health issues that screw with my metabolism, but it's going. Trying to concentrate more on diet.
Just got back from 10 days vacation (4 1/2 days driving), so it's been a struggle. Lost 3 pounds, & managed 2 get in 3 workouts in a World Gym in Florida.

The only reason I can figure is, I've been heavy all my life. Hence, just doing my job & working out has been a great lower body workout. However, due to lifestyle, genetice, & health issues, My upper body hasn't gotten the same workout.
Look at any moderately heavy, or fat guy. His calves will be huge, if you can see them.

Just got back from 10 days vacation (4 1/2 days driving), so it's been a struggle. Lost 3 pounds, & managed 2 get in 3 workouts in a World Gym in Florida.

I got big calces for some reason. Genetics I guess. Big calves and a small chest and back...HORAY FOR HICk :rolleyes: God was fuckin with me.

I rocked today, check out the leg press and hack squats, I could of actually done more, I couldn't believe it, last week I could hardly get through it and this week, I don't know!

getting bf tested on the 11th and on the 12th a whole new program, she thinks I am ready! :) Now going to bed, stupid head cold!

I use barebells for jsut about everyting..including skull crushers now. I dont get any pain anymore. Once in awhile Ill throw the sissy bar in just to mix things up. I had a great Bi workout today. Gym is crazy busy do to the powerhouse in the next town closing they all flooded into mine until there memberships run out. Fuckin sucks wating for machines or a bench/seat. Got in about 6 reps un assisted with good form of barbell curls.
105X6-admit last 2 were a litlle bit of a swing. Felt great. Diet on key as well. Pump was fantastic. Its great to make a weakpoint a strongpoint. Now only if i can do that with my back.
 
had a shitty squat workout today... :(

first few sets felt fine, but then my 4th and 5th felt heavy as hell...

i got the last set of 270x5, but my depth wasn't what it was justa few days ago when i did my triple with 270...

i did complete my 230x5 on the bench, and the 185x5 on the bent over rows...

just felt weak while squatting... maybe my mind wasn't in it, or i just had a bad day...

we'll see what happens Saturday when i go for 275x3...
 
I got the same problem with squats last week. Warm ups felt good. bumped up to 215. Felt fine. Went to 260 and it felt like 315 then I thought i just need to go to nuts and do 315. I did....weak and couldnt go low. talk about frusterating. With squats I always wanna feel the pump and the work. I just didnt.
 
i think part of my problem has been my slacking on the diet...

and the other was i got a nasty carboard cut on my index finger at work last night, and i kept thinking about it, cause the fucker was stinging like hell...

hope it heals up before my deads on Thursday... :(
 
common man....gotta fight threw paper cuts. :) use that pain to transfer into anget to lift. Bring the straps and use all other fingers but the fucked up one
 
i don't own straps, and now see them as the devil... ;)

if i nail my Saturday triple of 275, i'll just chalk today up to lazy, tired, or a combo of the 2...
 
DZLS: nice bench and row work!! Eh, your head prolly wasn't into the squats... get psyched up, pop an ammonia cap :evil: (never tried it... looks hardcore though, lol)

Do your forearms ever get roasted (burnt out, so pumped you can't grip a 10lb dumbell) and you can't complete a last heavy set of shrugs, deads... ect?

They come in clutch for me sometimes... not crutch, clutch :)

Straps can be your friend, you just gotta believe!
 
i won't even look at a strap until i start making some serious weights...

i'm shooting to hit 350x5 on deads with no straps, and a double overhand grip in about 6 more weeks... ;)

if i can do that, i will then maybe buy some straps... but i have failry good grip strength at the moment, and don't want to short change myself prematurely...
 
I respect that alot. I know I sacrificed alot of grip strength when I tried in high school because of reliance on them.

I know better now and my forearms got alot bigger and stronger because of it... go as long as you can without 'em.

I will say that depending on goals.. you'll build a bigger back faster with straps :D

double overhand for 5 reps of 350 ... quality in my book.

I "grew-up" on the mixed grip... double overs are something that i'm "weening" myself into, lol.... fuggin' tough.
 
No one is more into grip strength then me on this thread. I train my grip more then anything else. I have all types of Heavy grippers, thunder rolls. and other grip training tools. Although your forarms and wrists can only do so much. BUt I agree. If you dont need them....dont use them. But I think they would come in handy in his situation.
 
Go to gripboard.com if you wanna see some real bad asses. You would be amazed. Fuckes can pinch between thier thumb and thier pointer finger 3 35lb plates and lift....

Lmao you should see these guys to. Dont look like anything but can roll up a frying pan faster then I can roll a joint. Its sick. Same thing with lifting blogs. Looks so simple but Met RX has a powerlifting station at Arnold classic.. everyone thought they could do it but couldnt get close. SOME BIG BOYS too.
