In my house, we skip the vegetables, skip fruit, limit the size of the salads. I know there is a nutritional benefit to each of these, but the sugars in the fruit is incredible...My biggest problem is limiting the size of my salads...love a big salad but too much throws off the diet. I've been told the size of your fist is the perfect size.
Ok, so meats. proteins. A meal is pretty boring if its just a chicken breast. And I will never understand the bodybuilder living off of a blah chicken breast and brown rice. I hear it so much, but it makes no sense to me. You do right with the chicken and then negate all the good with the carbs in the rice. Ever notice middle aged asian or latina women? ....my point is, unless they are bodybuilders, their diet has had rice as a traditional side dish forever...and this rice, loaded with carbs eventually leads to a pudgy body once the metabolism slows down and there isn't enough exercise.
I like to replace the rice with another protein. I have chicken with my meat and use little dipping sauces as sparingly as possible for flavor. Its amazing how full you will get after this type of meal and it will keep you in ketosis.
