It"s Leg Day!!!!

Anyone else start off the weekend right, with a balls out leg day/night? After looking at some of your routines, can't fathom how you can really pump them with only 6-8 sets???? How can 6-8 sets feel like you've done anything, let alone take more than 20 minutes? Let's here the best routine. Mine looks like this, may be too high volume for most, but I love the feeling of crawling down the stairs...

BACK SQUATS 2 WARM, THEN 5X5
FRONT SQUATS - 2 X 8
LEG PRESS - 4, 12X10,10,8
2 SETS FARMERS WALK W/ 50LB DBELLS
LEG EXTENTION - 3 X 12X10X8
LEG CURL - 3 X 10
HYPERS

I deadlift for 7-8 sets on back day (tomorrow, so I nix them during leg day....)

Mucho Karma:fro: :chomp:

Hope you have a great leg day! My day to train legs is Sunday, and it looks something like this:

(not including warm-up sets)
Back Squat - 4 sets of 3-8 depending on where I'm at in training cycle
Bottom Half Squats - 3 sets of same rep scheme
SM Lunges - same
SLDL - same
Glute/Ham on the Lat Machine - same
Maybe Leg curls if I'm feeling really energetic

That's enough to get me pumped up and sore the next day. Depending on how fast I move through the workout and how many people are training legs that day, it takes 60-90 minutes.

just changed mine to

back squats 3x8
front squats 2x10
Romanian Deadlifts 2x10
Leg ext 2x12
Calf raises

I will be sprinting twice as well in the week for my hammies,

I am not a big fan of leg press though, never felt comfy IMO

Its all in the intensity of your sets-- you will not gain strength by training at 65% of your max for reps of 10-12... you will gain strength by training at 85% of your max for sets of 6-8.

My leg day has been way whittled down. Short but intense. I actually train shoulders before them as I am trying to catch my upper body up a bit.

Leg Day looks ike this:

Side laterals
Military Press
Two-arm plate overhead 45-pound plate lift (a finishing pump exercise, seems to have strengthened my rotators as well)

THEN

Leg Ext
Heavy Leg curl
Squats (one week heavy triples, the next week a stomach-emptying 20-rep set)
Donkey Calf raises

My standard routine looks like this:

squats 5 x 5
front squats 2 x 10
leg press 2 x 20
sldl 5 x 5
leg curls 3 x 10
calves 5-9 sets of whatever I feel like

or

leg press 5 x 5
front squats 2 x 10
squats 2 x 20
leg curls 5 x 5
sldl 3 x 10
calves 5-9 sets of whatever I feel like

Damn, I can barely get through 2 20 rep sets... you've got 3... then you hit the hacks?

You are made of steel.

my typical routine is such
decline press 20/15/12/10/8/6-8
hammer strength curls 12/10-12/10/8-10
hammer strength single leg ext 12/12/10/8
seated calve raises 4x25
smith squats or hack squats 3 sets 10-12 reps

i also do SLDL on back day, leg curls and calve raises same as on leg day....

i really want to start to do squats but i've never done them, i've had back problems and i am a little timid about doing them. i was thinking about doing box squats as an introduction, any thoughts?

today was leg day and i have to help a friend move tommorow its gonna hurt:bawling:

Here is my leg split for the week...btw I don't spend more than 20 minutes on legs, and I train back the same days...but mine are taping out at 28.5"... depleted of carbs. I get to carb up in the morning tomarrow.
