Is this the diet and abs board or training board??

I think you guys are waaaay over reacting, and not in a logical way. I mean think about it, everyone has their own agenda in the gym. Some people are there to improve cardiovascular health, some are their to increase strength, some purely want size. These are all valid in their own frame of reference.

If some of the other guys on this board are concerned with their abs, then hell, that's their goal. I don't think it is right to make fun of them because their goals dont go along with ours.

And you mock people because they don't know that diet has more to do with ab definition, and that spot reduction is a complete myth. Well, how are they supposed to learn what to do without asking? I mean, if they never ask on the training board about their abs, how would they ever find out that maybe they should be looking around on the diet board.

Our goal here as a fitness community should be to help each other in a positive way, and not just to bash on people who dont know any better.

And you know what, you are all totally hypocritical. I mean, when ever anyone posts a message that is like "hey check out this power lifts's stats and picture" or "you know you are a bodybuilder when..." or "is anyone watching the bench press comp. on tv" no body complains [and neither do i] that these have very little to do with training.... But when someone asks a question refering to their abs, which IS a part of training, y'all act like its totally wrong!!!

You know, Fatty is right. Everyone comes to these boards to learn. Newbies to the game may not know about dieting and such, and they may think "I'll ask the people on the training board. After all, my question does correlate to my training."

As much as I hate seeing several threads on one topic (i.e. How do I get a six pack?), it would be better to help these people out and point them in the right direction, rather than shun them away with sarcasm and rudeness. We're all here to learn from one another, not to look down on those who are less knowledgable.

I agree. I think many of us, especially those who've been in the gym a few years or more, forget what it was like to be new to weightlifting/bodybuilding world, and how intimidating our first few trips to the gym were. When I started out, I, like most newbies, had a narrow view of what I wanted and how to achieve it. But that's how anyone starts any endeavor. No one starts out as an expert. You learn as you go.

But I too am guilty of getting a little snotty with the newbies. I realize that's difficult for you all to believe, but it's true! So I think it's time we all give the new kids a break.

yep.

a quick link to a post that explains it will minimize people getting frustrated by restating the information. after a couple days or if the guy says "thanks", the mods can delete it...or better yet, the new guy can. saves clutter on the boards.

everyone has to start somewhere, true, but something can be said for using the search function as a newbie. usually most questions can be somewhat answered for a beginner and further clarification can be had by posting a more specific question.

Mods. . . .please KILL THIS THREAD. . .it is taking up space.

I apologize for starting a useless thread, plus forgetting that people are really asking for help. This is what they deserve. . . good advice or guidance how to improve their training in all aspects.

You have to consider that the anti-ab post reaction was based upon the fact that there was like 3 threads on abs on 1st page of the board, and people were still asking.

If there was any question as redundant as that, regardless of topic, it would fall among the annoying category and people would start being less helpful and more critical. I think that everyone is justified in being harsh on the ab-pursuers, because if you see multiple threads on what you want to know about, its simply disrespectful and a waste of space to ask the same damn question a 4th or 5th time.
