Is BOS banned?

As a journalist, I find all forms of censorship hard to accept. On the other hand, I have also sued people for libel (successfully), so I don't think people should be given unbridled license to engage in invective.

I am curious to know if Bo, Spent, et. al., draw the line anywhere. Is there any place that speech should be regulated in forums like this? I mean besides the usual wartime emergency provisions.

I understand George censoring speech on this board. It is a private board owned by a private company. He has the right to do as he pleases.

On the otherhand, I would not censor anyone if I owned a board such as this. I believe people should be able to express their views no matter how bad a person or society in general views them.

You have won a libel suit? Good for you!!!

By far the biggest reason for my general loathing of the media is all the slander and libel they engage in and get away with. Who is the media accountable to?.........that is a question I frequently ask.

If someone's being malicious, they can be censored, fine. There have been cases where members threatening others have resulted in nothing. Bfold comes to mind.

But didn't you say you advocated it?????? It seems like you pushed for it and then when it happens you blame "Big Bad George" typical of the way your internet personna thinks......... to not be held responsible for your actions............

Yep and I wrote my own briefs in both cases and both papers settled with me. And, I also extracted a public apology from a very well know conservative radio moron who is praised here now and then.

I am also appalled by what has happened in the media. I'm sure your, um, parents have told you how unbelievably different it is now from 15 or 20 years ago. I feel sure that my case was enhanced by the fact that it was a matter of a journalist suing journalists.

But part of what specifically appalls me is the authorization of language like BOS's. I would NEVER publish his kind of garbage and it's published all the time now. He is very much an expression of the culture, which values shock and glibness over thoughtfulness now. There's something appealing in it but it's not an appeal to our best part.
