if you think being a doctor is all about having a marketable skill, youre going to a) be a shit doctor, and b) hate your life
good luck
What makes you the expert here?
I am, in fact, highly interested in the structures and fysiology of the human body. I´m not too interested in the well-being of John or Jane Doe, though.
I´m interested in the human body in these cases.
I just don´t care about the morality in it and even find it slightly hypocritical. I will be having my fingers crossed taking the Hypocratic oath (If my school even still does that nonsense, which I´m unsure of)
I think I know more here than you and you may have a very naive vision of the profession. I´ve already passively attended all sorts of operations and a typical scene is one where the doctor and his assistents are fixing somebody´s intestines or removing a tumor while casually discussing their kids recent birthday party or their weekend plans. I do suppose it differs between what your doctorate is.
You may be mislead by the effects of the free market health care system in the USA which demands doctors to act nice to patients, since they cant discern between a skilled and an unskilled doctor anyway, only between a soft and a bold one.
I´d like to become a traumatologist (emergency room doctor) because it would let me do my business without too much fake smile chitchat and allow me to make use of my resistence to stress.
