Not really on topic i know- but these are things we can include in our cutting cycles. And it's pretty common to talk about this stuff on the anabolic board so i thought i'd post it.
----------------------------------------
L-CARNITINE
The body naturally makes this amino acid. Its function is to transport fat from fat cells to muscle cells where the fat can be burned as a source of fuel. The problem is that
overweight people don't make as much L-carnitine. Research shows that by supplementing with L-carnitine, the body's ability to transport and consequently burn fat is
enhanced. The recommendation is 2,000 mg daily, taken either 30-60 minutes before exercise or in two divided doses during the day (with or without food).
CHROMIUM
Chromium is a mineral which plays a role in blood sugar metabolism due to its relationship with the hormone insulin. As such it helps control the appetite. There is a
significant body of research about chromium in the form of chromium picolinate and its ability to potentiate the loss of body fat and to increase lean muscle when used as
part of an exercise program. The recommendation is 200-600 mcg daily with a meal.
PYRUVATE
Pyruvate, a natural end-product of energy metabolism, can help promote fat loss. In clinical studies published in peerreviewed journals, subjects taking pyruvate while
following a low-fat diet experienced 37 percent greater weight loss and 48 percent greater fat loss than the group that followed the low-fat diet, but did not receive the
pyruvate. Other research shows cholesterol-lowering benefits and exercise performance-enhancing benefits as well. The recommendation is 2-6 grams, in three divided
doses daily (with or without food).
CLA
Human research demonstrated that the fatty acid CIA (conjugated linoleic acid) can play a vital role in reducing body fat. During a treatment period of three months with
Tonalin CLA capsules, the percentage of body fat dropped from an average of 21.3 percent to 17.0 percent in the Tonalin CLA group, while no change was seen in the
placebo group. The recommendation is 3,000 mg daily, taken in three divided doses, with meals.
CITRIMAXTM
Citrimax is the trade name for an extract of the plant garcina cambogia. This extract contains 52 percent (-)-hydroxycitric acid, which inhibits carbohydrates from being
converted into fat. Citrimax also helps to keep blood sugar stable and control appetite. The net effect is that lipogenesis, also known as fat production and storage, is
reduced. The recommendation is 1,500 mg daily, taken in three divided doses, 30 minutes before meals.
CHITOSAN
Chitosan is a shellfish fiber (from the shell). Research has shown that chitosan binds dietary fat, preventing its digestion and absorption and allowing it to pass naturally
through the body. Specifically, 250 mg of chitosan will prevent the absorption of 3 grams of dietary fat. The recommendation is 250-1,000 mg taken with each meal that
contains a significant amount of fat.
SOLUBLE FIBERS
Soluble fibers (e.g., oat bran, pectin, glucomannan, psyllium husks, etc.) slow the rate at which the stomach empties. They also slow the rate that food is broken down
and absorbed into the bloodstream as glucose leaving a feeling of satiety longer after a meal. Furthermore, like chitosan, soluble fibers can bind with a certain amount of
dietary fat and prevent its absorption. The recommendation is 1,000-2,000 mg with a large glass of water, 10-15 minutes before each meal.
LIPOTROPICS
Lipotropic formulas typically include (at least) choline, inositol and methionine. Lipotropic agents help the liver to produce lecithin, which is a fat emulsifier. Lecithin can
help break down fats from the foods into fatty acids. It is more likely that the fats (now fatty acids) will be used as a source of energy fuel, rather than being stored as
body fat. The recommendation is three tablets of a lipotropic formula daily, one with each meal. This should provide about 1,000 mg each of choline and inositol.
