Insulin against rules?? :/

I don't think so man

its not against the rules we just don't talk about it.

insulin can kill so we don't want some skinny idiot 17 year old to decide to take 100units of it cause he thinks he is taking 10 units and then end up dead

so if you discuss it keep it on the down low. and don't drag people who have no business touching it into the conversation

Insulin is something I have never talked about on this site nor caring about it. I think it should be added to the list of drugs that aren't allowed to he talked about

It's kind of funny, we talk about all these drugs that we all illegally obtain and use, for the most part.. but we don't talk about the one that we can just walk into a pharmacy and buy OTC without a script. At least you can in the USA

It has nothing to do with the legality of it - its the risk of death that makes it something to not talk about.

U can't buy insulin without a prescription.

So what if you can buy it in a pharmacy...you can buy bath salts as well...can they both kill you? Yes.

No matter how experienced you are, I don't think it should be used for the sport of bodybuilding...just my opinion...

in my opinion.. insulin and high doses of hgh have taken body building from being about aesthetics, to being about shear mass.. no matter how unappealing a physique looks. So I will have to agree with you.

Ya man, I have heard it changes physique for sure...but, are you willing to take the risk? Like not using a rubber with a hooker lol

You can get Humulin R and the generics of it at a pharmacy just not Humalog.

The thing is with insulin, it has that risk of death, yes. But its not as dangerous with common sense. Diabetics don't die. Yes, there bodies process and are different from someone who is not and taking it but the concept is still the same.

It can change your physique for the better or worse if you do not know how to properly use it. But you have to ask yourself, have you really used all the available AAS that can do that as well? Are you going to take bodybuilding to the level that the possible risk of death, worth it? Or are you just a weekend warrior at the bars trying to look good?

It has nothing to do with the legality of it - its the risk of death that makes it something to not talk about.

That could also be a good reason to talk about it. Not push or promote it, but share valuable info. After all, isn't that what these forums are all about - sharing valuable and vital underground info.

That being said, I also see the opposing view.

I know it can be very dangerous, but from all I've heard it's really not as scary as it sounds. Very low doses of humalog is fast acting and far away from a dose that's potentially fatal. Especially if used only post workouts with some carbs. I wouldn't dare start using it with every meal. I'd keep it simple and very low doses if I was going to do it.

I kind of agree with the above two posts. Yes it's dangerous and yes it can kill you if not used carefully. But aspirin can kill you if you take too much of it too.

There are some things that are so dangerous that they can't be used properly and shouldn't be brought up here (a particularly dangerous fat burner comes to mind). But there are safe and effective protocols for insulin and discussing them to share that information seems to be a far better way of approaching the issue than just banning it and leaving people to fend for themselves.

I believe too much of any thing can be harmful for us or even get us killed!
Even steriods that are being discussed here can get us killed if abused.
I think these forums educate ppl on proper use of supplements, aas ,etc., and if discussing on proper way of using insulin that can be helpful for people in here who wants to take their physique to the next level, then it would be really good as well.
Just my two cents & I respect the forum rules & my seniors vets in here :)

From my point of view insulin is a step further, its not for weekend warriors nor gym rats nor lifestyle bodybuilders, its for guys who earn their money doing this... For me to be honest I think I could spend at least another five to ten years making nice gains with AAS without wanting to complicate things any further than that... As for talking about it I can see both points of view as well, discussion promotes knowledge but can also generate interest, its a double edged sword, I suppose if the information is there it would hopefully do more good than harm, but then it should only be of interest to a very small number of people anyway...

First, you will never get Humalog without a prescription. Unless you have a doctor who will prescribe you Humalog then you are assed out. The second most fast acting insulin is Humulin R, which peaks in 2 hours and clears within 4 hours, and can be purchased at Walmart for almost nothing.

Pwo is the most conservative way to take slin with minimal risks of going hypo. It's when people take it pre-cardio and pre and post workout they enter into the danger zone. I'm speaking out of experience. I used use it three times a day and would literally have to carry candy bars around because I would always get the signs of going hypo. I adjusted my protocol to PWO and it has worked like a charm. I been doing it for 5 weeks now and I have not remotely went hypo...

My source has humalog and I trust his word on it.

well i've tried humalog and the shit didn't do a thing for me.. i'm convinced it went bad along the way... tried it without any dextrose just to see if i would get any hypo symptoms and nothing. its not that the source was necessarily bad but a lot can happen to something like this that travels. Led is right, its much more simple to walk into the pharmacy and get the humulin R, atleast then you know it won't go bad on you before you even use it.

i would start out with 5 units and work your way up to 10 a day after your workout. get in your dextrose and whey after you take it.. then take advantage of it with some clean eating for the next couple hours.

using before your workout or cardio is not for beginners. your blood sugar drops as it is during this time, add in the insulin and you are risking hypo. also in the mornings you typically wake up with low blood sugar as well so i wouldn't use it then either. those that want to go the natural route can play with n2slin from NTBM which does the same thing but is in herbal form.

How close in proximity to your workout does it have to be? I workout at the same gym I work at and usually go home to eat after lifting - takes about 15-30 minutes to get home. That soon enough?

IM or SubQ?

Primarily for adding size or can it help with recomp/cutting and/or protecting lean mass during a cut?

you want to not take it before your workout because as you workout your blood sugar drops. as a former endurance athlete i have first hand knowledge of this which is why you see runners carry tabs with them to help out with that.

just wait till you get home bro to be safe. you want to be home during those hours until it is out of your system. do not decide to run errands or whatever during this time. and try to have someone at home with you in case something goes wrong

^^^ that's good advice to do this at home, not while running errands. Also to have someone around when you first start.

I think its good to have the Slin discussions on here for people's safety. It's not for everyone. I tried it about 13 yrs ago and decided that it wasn't for me.

I tried Humulin R for about a week. I really can't remember how many IU's, but it was definitely in the lower range. I had friends who were safely using it post workout and there was also some info going around the boards at that time so I thought Id give it a try.

I would take it post workout while alone at my house, which as mentioned above could be dangerous. I would have my dextrose, creatine, protein/mrp shake, and post workout meals all lined up. I pretty much had each of these scheduled to the minute.

But even with all the planning and research (which seemed thorough at the time, but I'm sure there's been some evolution) I still didn't handle it well. I'm the sort of guy that is usually somewhat dull to the senses. I'm just not very sensitive. Stimulants, sleeping/drowsy meds, test boosters, etc. do very little that I can actually feel. But I could definitely feel the insulin. In fact it was almost like I could feel it coming in and moving over me and I didn't like that. Perhaps, because I was already very cautious and aware of the dangers of insulin (lived with a reckless diabetic).

I would get drowsy at a low dose. Even after lowering the dose below the recommended range, I still felt drowsy. And that was more than I cared to deal with. The thought of falling asleep while the Humulin was still active scared the shit out of me (as it should).

I lived with a diabetic at the time so I had a test meter and was checking my blood sugar during all of this as well. But as I mentioned, I was doing this while I was alone in the house which was stupid.

I adjusted the rate of insulin and my post workout program during that week to try to find a balance, but I never did.

This doesn't mean that others can't safely use insulin. I'm aware that many use it safely and effectively for BB. Just proceed with caution.

Slin should be injected immediately after you workout in the restroom or wherever you feel like. Because glucose levels are at its lowest right after you workout, and your objective is to replenish muscle glycogen that what used up during your workout as soon as possible. I suppose if you live 2 minutes away from the gym you train at you can wait until you go home to inject, but I recommend injecting ASAP because you don't want your depleted muscles to start to waste away. After injecting drink your protein and simple carbs, then about an hour later eat a fat free protein and complex carb meal, then 2 hours later eat another protein complex carb meal. By then the slin will be out of your system. This is the Humulin R protocol...

I have read that you want to use 1 iu of insulin for every 20 pounds of weight to start out, and then consume 10 grams of carbs for every IU. So if I wanted to go about giving Humulin R a try.. would this be a good layout? I am 220 pounds.

Post Workout:
10 iu Insulin
75-100 gram Dextrose
50 gram Whey

1 Hour Later:
Chicken Breast
Sweet Potatoe
Veggies

Well, you are definitely on to something but you are not exactly quite there.

Here is how you want to do it.

Week 1. 2 IUs ED on workout days.
Week 2. 5 IUS ED
Week 3. 7 IUs ED
Week 4. 10 IUs ED

This way gives your body time to adjust and adapt to the slin without fucking yourself up. You don't want to just jump right into doing 10 IUs ED, because you don't know how you are going to react to the slin.

Again, we are in game that everyone reacts differently to different substances. Hence, if you are going to try slin do yourself a favor and take it the way I explained above.

Don't take slin more than 6-8 weeks at a time because there is a good chance you can become insulin dependent, or even become a self-induced diabetic.

As for taking 10 grams of carbs for every IU, that is a good protocol to start out at. As you get a feel for the slin you can bump it up some if you like, I do..

You post workout meal looks good.

Now with the Humulin R, it is active for up to 8 hours. So it would effect more then just the pwo and ppwo meals, correct? So you would want a similar meal to your ppwo meal a few hours later? And then another one after that? Should you shoot for the same amount of carbs that were in the previous meals, or gradually lower them? Avoid fats in these meals too? And besides the dextrose post workout, do you want to stay with low glycemic carbs for the next meals.. or do you want to still eat high glycemic carbs in the meals after the injection? Sorry, I have many questions lol. Thanks in advance if you take the time to answer them.

how do you do this? do you take the insulin with you to the gym or leave it in your car? my concern is if you leave it in your car will the heat make it go bad? i could load up the syringe and take just that with me and then after the workout inject and drink my shake and keep them in a cooler .. i live a solid 35 minutes from the gym and i usually like to stop on the way home at the grocery store to buy some fresh food, so i'm trying to figure out the best way

another thing the lady at the pharmacy told me that once its punctured it will last 30 days and doesn't need to be kept in the fridge, i'm not sure if this is accurate either. i've always thought it was good for a solid 6 months or more as long as its kept in the fridge.

Put it my gym bag and bring into the gym with me. When I'm done training I go in the stall in the restroom and pop it, then I drink my shake. Then I go home and my bitch has my food ready for me :).

You are going to have to figure out you own schedule, I can't do everything :).

No, HR does not technically have to be put in the fridge, it will be fine at room temperature. But I'm paranoid so I put mine in the fridge anyway. Too hard to trust room temperature in the summer even with central air. I would put it in the fridge. Better safe than sorry..

Also, could that same protocol be used upon waking?

Now, I don't want to be an asshole to you but you don't even know how to use slin PWO and you are asking about using it first thing in the morning. Don't be ridiculous! PWO is the most conservative time to use slin without going hypo, but there still is that chance. Upon waking is the most dangerous time to use slin. I'm experienced at this and I don't use it upon waking. Just don't do it!!!

I am just trying to get as much knowledge as possible. I figured that it could be utilized in the same way in the morning as post workout because your body is in a similar state. I am aware that I don't know exactly how to use slin.. so therefore I am trying to become as educated as possible.

Can anyone speculate what it would do if you used GW-50 with slin? Possibly dangerous? Or safer because you could use less insulin (In theory)

when you wake up your blood sugar is low. thats why historically people usually have sugary type things in the morning like pancakes, danishes, orange juice, etc. so its just not a good idea to a newb to slin to take it upon waking. be conservative with it.

i know its off subject of this thread but i thought it would be a good addition saying this... today though we eat sugars as a treat (most in the western diet) which is why the country is so obese. most people who eat sugar have way too much that they don't need.

reason being you just went 8 hours or so fasting. so its important to get in a solid breakfast (i'm talking the general population not those who are doing IF or whatever) many people do not eat breakfast and they wonder why their metabolism is so slow. i tell them have a veggie shake for breakfast and that is the best thing to speed up metabolism for someone who wants to lose weight (especially middle aged women)

I would guess that it would be better in any case to save the slin since in the morning you need it less than you would in the other parts of the day. Taking advantage of breakfast (minus slin) could be almost as effective as using small amounts of slin. Obviously I'm speculating since I have no experience.

good question, i would be curious to hear leds take on this.

i have heard both sides of the arguement.. some say insulin spikes at X time, others say it does not.

you can google 'insulin spikes' and get a whole lot of articles, studies, and opinions.

I have been intrigued by insulin for awhile.. never really planned on using it at all, but I have done a lot of things that I've never planned to do. I bet insulin would be a great addition to PCT, to help keep/make gains.

The concept of using it in PCT is interesting to me as well.

Just got my self a bottle of humulin R. This will be my first time.

Here my game plan:

Intra workout: 50 g glycofuse, 20g aminos, 5g creatine. (PWO my BG levels are usually 120 - 130)
Immediately after I lift: 3 iu of humulin R

1 hr later : 8oz chicken or turkey, 2 cups white rice, (check BG levels)

Powerade on hand just in case

2 hr later : 6 oz chicken with 1 cups oats

(Check BG levels hopefully out of my system by now)

I'll work my way up to 5iu and I'm waiting to try it on my day off from work so I can see how I respond.

good luck with this, i hope you don't die.

I don't know your exact stats, but by the look you avatar i'd say we are pretty similar in size. I'm very curios to see what effects it can have, especially on a first run. You should log it, or at least keep me updated lol

I'd consider chucking the humulin and going with novolog or humalog. The activity of them is much shorter. About 2:15. It's easier to judge the spike. Humulin and some of the others have a flatter profile.

U can't buy insulin without a prescription.

offcourse you can all insulin is OTC or the liability to pharma companies is too much

If someone needs an insulin shot they need it NOW or they die...this is why insulin and slin pins are readily available in so many places without a prescription

Ledhead's protocol is spot on. I tried it for 4 weeks but then at one point I didn't make it from the gym (where I took my shot) to home in time because of traffic and I started getting all dizzy and shaky and it's was one of the most frightening experiences in my life. I never tried it after than.

I am curious about the prospect of using it either when between cycles or on a cut as a way to protect lean mass. I dont typically bulk so that use doesnt apply to me.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using EliteFitness

I'm not sure where people live but some insulin is OTC and some is prescription only at least in the US. Recombinant insulin is by prescription only and in about 20 or so states syringes are prescription only.
Also contrary to popular thought, if you need a shot of insulin and you don't get it, you do not die. Diabetic Keto-acidosis is what results from not taking insulin and, although a problem , is more complicated than dying if you can't get a shot.

In Canada slin pins and insulin is available anywhere at a shoppers drugmart

As for dying, pretty sure you could die if you need an insulin shot and you don't take it.

To die from Keto you would need to miss several shots over a longer amount of time. Otherwise diabetics would die immediately before ever being diagnosed. Type 1 can take up to a few weeks to discover after it actually starts.

i did my shot today immediately after the gym .. what i did was get a bag of ice and put in my dex/whey and loaded my syringe ahead of time and put it all in them and left it in my car where it would stay cool from the ice. took the shot then took my dex drink.. then i went immediately and got myself a steak/chicken meal at the local mexican place. hormone and grassfed meat btw. with brown rice and lots of lettuce. ate it about 30-40 minutes after the shot so it worked out perfectly. didn't have any issues doing that.. then got home and had a fish dinner with sweet potato :)

so you ate 3 meals within a short period correct?

So what you would advice is dextrose and whey directly after your shot, then a short time later consume a meal with moderate glycemic carbs and protein? And you should avoid fat in these meals correct?

you can buy a bag of dex from NTBM which sells under the name n2carb. the bag i bought will last a long time. it actually tastes good just with water alone but i also added some WTBM with it to give it some flavor.

you want definately to take advantage of the nutrition partitioning during that span where the body is freaking out from the insulin hormone being injected. eat clean protein, carbs, cals, vitamines, minerals.. so a good meal would be lean meat with some sweet potato and some veggies for example. that would be perfect..

if you eat ice cream, cake and other shit during this you are just wasting your time. considering your log and the way you look i doubt you even know what those foods are lol

Going Hypo is scary, I had it once bad, confusion, sweating until i was soaked in 32 degree weather. Now That i've experienced it i can tell ahead of time what i need to do before it gets bad.

Excellent!!

ha ha ha.. veeeerrry funny. I am well aware of ice cream, but what is this "cake" thing you are referring too? Fortunately for me, I do not have much of a sweet tooth at all. But I do have a severe problem when it comes to deep fried foods dipped in ranch. Almost had to go to rehab for it.

I think I am going to have to invest in some of the n2carb. I usually just go with cytocarb, it's cheap and GNC always has it in stock but it's so small, it's like I have to make a trip into gnc every week to pick up a jug.

I am still a long ways away from trying slin, but this thread has been very informational and beneficial. Glad it is being talked about.

Try karbolyn if you haven't. The orange is delicious.

Sounds like you got it down pretty much bro :supercool

10ml of humalin-r u-100 for $91 at Walgreens. Seems expensive but is that the typical size vial?

I only read half this thread so far but I wanted to get some thoughts out before I forgot.

I used to take a very small cooler lunch bag thingy with me. Pre loaded shit inside with an ice pack. I would immediately go outside pwo and sit in my truck and pin. Eat my glucose tabs and drink my shake.

I forget exactly when it is but humalin R has two peaks. I found this out first hand without realizing it.

AND.....Humalin R can hang around in ones system for more than 4 hours. I am first hand proof of that. I was just starting my 2nd week and it was my first day of 6iu pwo. Did everything as I should and then about 6 hours later I was at the mall walking around and started to get wicked hypo symptoms. Like quick. SO I hit the Chinese buffet and filled myself with sugary sauced chicken and an assload of rice. Scared the shit out of me.

I also think its good to have an intelligent informative slin discussion from time to time. Unfortunatley however intelligent and however educational theres always going to be some shit bag noob who thinks its a good idea and either kill/fuck themselves up.

Slin can definatley change your physique for the WORSE also if you don't know wtf you are doing.

Very good information about insulin. Makes me interested for sure. Doesn't seem that bad if you actually know what the hell you're doing.
On a side note, what are the major benefits of using it? What could you expect? Also what is it like when you come off of it'?

its okay.. not buying at walmart is better for the world.. so you did a good deed lol

Lol! I agree 100%! Speaking of...I recently found out time Warner is right up there with Walmart and rest of the worlds problems. Go figure... I knew there was a good reason I cuss out whomever I talk to regardless of their performance when i call them lol!
