Does anyone know anything about polymyalsia? I'm not sure how to spell it or what it is actually, sorry. I'm going to see if I can find some info about it on the net in a little while. Anyway, how would one go about training if they have polymyalsia? My understanding is that there are two forms, poly and fibro. Poly can be treated and cured. the thing is the treatment is a bitch. The patient is being pumped with prednisone and as a result has gained a lot of weight. Any info or suggestions on how to train or not train a person with this sickness and on prednisone would be appreciated. thanks!

Here is some info on fibromyalgia and a link.

"FMS (fibromyalgia syndrome) is a widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder for which the cause is still unknown. Fibromyalgia means pain in the muscles, ligaments and tendons--the fibrous tissues in the body. FMS used to be called fibrositis, implying that there was inflammation in the muscles, but research later proved that inflammation did not exist.

Most patients with fibromyalgia say that they ache all over. Their muscles may feel like they have been pulled or overworked. Sometimes the muscles twitch and at other times they burn. More women than men are afflicted with fibromyalgia, but it shows up in people of all ages."

Unfortunately there is no cure for fibromyalgia as of yet. Best of luck.

Edit: Forgot to post a link on polymyaglia......

Fibromyalgia is a neuroendocrine disorder and is a syndrome related to Chronic Fatigue (aka Myalgic Encephalomyelitis), the main difference being that there is a greater degree of muscle pain in fibromyalgia than in CFS/ME.

My best guess is that it caused by cortisol damage to the hippocampus during traumas that subsequently affect the pineal and hpa axis.

Polymagia rheumatica may exist in conjunction with fibromyalgia, but fibro carries with it a great host of other symptoms, including brain chemistry imbalances, hormonal disturbances and digestive problems. The two problems are not really related as far as I'm aware. Polymagia can be cured, from what I understand.

There is no cure of fibromyalgia, but there are some good treatments. I have been battling the f'n' shit for over a year and found the best results with homeopathy through a company called Custom Homeopathics. As a matter of fact, I am one of their guinea pigs and my journal of my experiences using their protocol is documented at their website. I started in February and was into remission by June and continue to do pretty well. I have returned to a normal life, normal function, and I am starting to lift a little weight again, even. I'm still not very strong in the ligaments and muscle insertions (where fibro hits hardest) - so I'm not too good with free weights. Need to renew my gym membership so I can get on machines again.

Custom Homeopathics website is http://www.customhps.com - and no I don't get money, just good karma - they are basically non-profit, anyway.

I don't think the two are much related at all. I'm not sure I'd want to take prednisone, but if that's the cure - well - what else can you do?
