i hear workouts should last no more than an hr yet many bodybuilders suggest 2bodyparts, 3-4 sets,2-3 excersises each part.if im resting say 2-3 mins between sets(high intesity) thats like up to 2hrs with the warm up etc.replys would be appreciated

The theory on an hour is that your test levels fall and your cortisol levels rise in that time span so there are diminishing returns on your effort after that.

You can work out long or you can work out hard but you can't do both. You can do 24 sets in an hour though.

In any case you could cut that 24 sets in half easy and focus more on quality compound exercises. Don't be listening to what "many bodybuilders" say. Who says? Flex magazine? And what works for many bodybuilders may not work for you, for numerous reasons.

great reply.ill cut down on sets and be more intense.i was thinkin of doing 1 bodypart a day but i was told that i should train each part once a week as opposed to the 10 days i had in mind m8.anywho cheers

only you know how often you should train each bodypart. you have to learn how quickly you recover from each workout, light or heavy etc. only then can you make sure you hit stimulus again to continue growing. too long and you miss your window, too soon and you accumulate microtrauma.

If I'm in the gym more than hour, I'm not happy, it means I've been dicking around. 45 minutes is plenty to train anything.

I just switched my routine up a little.I usually take an hour to lift sometimes an hour 1/2 on if I'm really amped,Well this is how my split looks.I've actually been getting real good results with this. But after like 5-6 weeks i'll switch things up a little.

Mon-(Chest)

Tue-(Bi's&Forearms)

Wed-(Legs&Calves)

Thur-(Back)

Fri-(Shoulders&Tri's)

I do 3 to 4 lifts per bodypart with reps 12,10,8,6
