pljay is right (mostly).
national meets usually require a 'qualifying total' to enter, but they don't really stick you to it. you can show up, but if you post really crappy numbers expect to be ridiculed.
world meets are usually by invitation only. you usually get invited by being the previous years winner or placing 1st or 2nd in senior nationals. these are generally a lot of fun cause you can visit a foreign country. unfortunately, i think the IPF sucks ass and the meets are not fun for any of the lifters (asinine rules, bad drug testing policies, politics, etc). The APF *used* to be really cool, because Frantz also controlled the WPC. I remember doing the Junior Worlds and it was way cool. Unforunately, I think the WPC and Frantz are going their seperate ways.
I sort of agree with what pljay says about the WPO. Yes, a lot of competitors show up and most of them are the best, but I think the money aspect and showy aspect of the whole org is kind of cheesy. You will *NEVER* make even enough money to pay for your drug cycles let alone a career in powerlifting. I, frankly, don't see the point. I will reserve further judgement until I actually do a WPO meet. I could be totally off. I just know what I read and what my good friends tell me.
I still consider the APF Senior Nationals to be the real deal. This year, the big boys all showed up there (Frank, Mikesell, Matt Smith, and some others). I think at least 4 people in the supers totalled over 2400. You are *young*

I don't know if you realize what a 2400 total means. It is badfucking ass.
Freak19, I have seen your last total. That is awesome. Try not to worry about sponsership and records yet. Just get some good meets under your belt. Go to Nationals. I am sure a 1950 qualifies. You will have fun and meet people.
Take care.
