what is your routine for hiit cardio, im just starting to try it once a week along with 2X a week regular cardio. i just tried one minute sprinting on the treadmill, 1 min walk, then repeat until 20 min is up. this didnt seem like it was near as demanding as running at a consistent pace for 30 minutes, i couldnt really sprint on the treadmill. what have you done that has worked for you, outside or ont he treadmill, what intervals....????

I hate fucking running. Thats why i do it on the treadmil cause if i don't move then I fall on my face. So its a good motivation for me :D I'd just pace yourself on the treadmill. I don't think you'd see a much in the Hiit cardio. Just my 2cents

I just started HIIT cardio. Previously, I did 30min. walking at 3.5mph on a treadmill set at a 15 degree incline. I'm horribly out of cardiovascular shape so I can't take much. Right now it's:

2min warm-up
20s as fast as possible
10s slow
20s as fast as possible
10s slow
20s as fast as possible
30s slow
20s as fast as possible
30s slow
20s as fast as possible
30s slow
20s as fast as possible
2 min cooldown

Generally, it seems to work best on a stationary bike. Experiment. I've only done 3 sessions so far, so am I am certainly not an expert. I based my routine on one of the studies done, which used 6 20s sprinting intervals, with 10s resting periods and adjusted it for my own pathetic cardiovascular capacity. Do more intervals if you're capable.
