I'll be damn!! Thought I was gonna be stuck there! I kept complaining I was getting a charlie horse in my feet but then when I went to push the clutch in my car.......oh the pain in my calve muscle...charlie horse!! I had to get out the car and try to work it out. I did enough to get me going but I had to push the gas in with my heel and not push clutch in all the way! That sucks!

I am allergic to bannanas and I take a daily multivitamin what else can I do to prevent these from happening? Oh and I pretty much only drink water, very seldom do I dring anything else.

You said you were allergic to bananas. potassium pills.

I took two different things when needing that stuff. i forget what the other one was.

Maybe taurine as well? I have to check.

Cramps are usually associated with a mineral deficiency or imbalance (either sodium, calcium, potassium or magnesium). You could just take a general multi-mineral supplement. In my experience it's damned easy to throw mineral balance out of whack when you take individual supplements, and mineral imbalance causes the body to leach the "balancing" mineral from some other source, e.g., calcium balances potassium so if you have too much potassium you're risking your bones, etc. It's even easy to screw things up when you take a multimineral supplement, and since you already have something out of balance, for a long term approach you might want to try a lifestyle approach. You could get a small bottle of multiminerals and take them for about a week or so, and then just take one once or twice a week.

Additionally, switching to a whole food multi, as opposed to a regular multivitamin, might help. Making sure you're consistently getting enough nutrient dense fresh veggies (broccoli, kale, sweetpotatoes, etc.), would be the most natural approach. You might even want to think about trying adding green food beverage (something like Kyo-Green is pretty palatable, even if it's pricey).

Avoiding things like white flour foods and refined sugars is really important because shit like that actually screws your mineral balance up, too.

I am gonna go to the pharmacy today and stock up, I never want to experience that agian. I have had them before but that was the worst ever!!

Sounds like regular cramping.
Good to be getting lots of water.
Stretch and massage should help.

I do get lots of water. I can't drink soft drinks to much...I'm a weirdo, I know! lol

You'd do better finding a good health food store or specialty vitamin shop nearby. Better selection, plus the stuff you get in a pharmacy is overpriced and you're paying for fillers and artificial colors, etc.

I'm on a frigging first name basis with the people at the nearby Vitamin Shoppe. I've switched 90% of my purchases over to mail order to cut down on costs (shopping around some places offer flat rate shipping if you make a minimum order). I think now I'm saving anywhere from $50 to $100 a month, easy. For me the killer is the advance planning.

taurine works wonders... I would get intense cramps when I was training. Low potas... but with the diet my body just didn't cling well with bananna's or potas pills. Taurine was a life saver.

Humm, I don't think we have a food health store here. Think I should look online then? I can only think of pharmacy's or the health store where I get my protein powder that is around here...but I don't think they sell stuff like that.

Thats what I was told yesterday on the thread I made. I was having very bad cramps in my left foot.

or believe it or not...Walmart has a great selection of suppliments and vitamins. Well the Wal Marts in Canada anw ways.
Vitamin shops are way over-priced.

okay I have written down the great suggestions from all of you and at lunch break I will head on over to Walmart.

This is why I love you guys! I don't care what question I may have there is always some very good and helpful advice given!!

You are ALL the bomb!!!! Thanks as always!!!!!!! :bigkiss:

I get those in the arches of my feet when I diet. They have vitamins specifically for leg cramps on the vitamin aisle. =-)

I look at bricks and mortars stores, anymore, as the place to pick up something I really want to try but don't want to buy in bulk. Most of the online places I deal with have very good selection but you only get free or reduced shipping if you're breaking a certain $$$ Vitamin Shoppes are a special vitamin store, I don't know if they're in Canada.

I'm in PA, I pay sales tax, so everything is overpriced IMO.

While I don't take an outrageous amount of vitamins (I dunno, is 22 to 24 pills or so a day a lot? bear in mind, since I do mostly whole food supplements and herbs, as opposed to individual nutrients, some things I have to take more than one pill/capsule of) some of the stuff I take is very ... obscure would be the best word. I have a bunch of weird allergies, in addition to being a sensitive celiac -- I can't touch wheat/gluten. You'd be amazed at how many vitamins you buy you look at don't have allergen information.

I think 22-24 vits a day is too many. A naturopath would not even put someone on that many vits a day. I think you should look into taking compound vits and or suppliments. Just my opinion
If you are in PA are you near a Trader Joes?
We have some good vitamin stores up here, but in all seriousness, I find the same stuff in walmart or my pharmacy. We are very health conscience up here so many places carry a large variety of supplements and vitamins that are hard to find elsewhere. I agree, the good reputable vitamins will be labeled with their content for ppl with allergies.

I only take a handful of supplements a day and each day I find them harder and harder to choke down.

Ilk turned me on to Sesapure, Thermorexin & Glucorell r and then I oh course take my multivitamin

I'm counting individual pills, literally. The things I'm taking don't come in compounds, I have some very specific health issues and it's taken a lot of time to work this "science" out. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone else, but I don't know anyone else whose health is as fubar'd as mine. I'm hypersensitive to a lot of stuff in addition to allergies, I literally can overdo vitamin supplements quite easily, so I have to take mostly neutriceuticals. Most whole food complexes are bulkier, requiring you to take multiple pills.

Probiotic complex 6 capsules
Garlic 2 capsules
Chlorella 4 caps
Wholefood complex (multivitamin) 4 caps
Digestive enzymes 3 or more (depends on meal #)
Coq 1
Fishoil 1
B100 1
Glucose regulator 4

As you see, almost entirely food supplements, NOT individual vitamins or minerals, except for the B100.

I do medical reports where people are taking that many prescription medications.

what the hell were you going to the gym for last night? were they giving away cookies or something?

Oh yeah, that's not a lot. I was thinking you were taking 24 diff things.
Are you Probiotics for candida related issues?
Do you take the b100 daily? I take b50 3 times a week. I find it was giving me brain-fog taking too much!

My mother needed B100 daily, too. Seems to be something our family is not good at assimilating. I also can't eat the vast majority of grains, and have an extremely difficulty time digesting legumes if I consume them too frequently, which are the major foods where a lot of B vitamins come from.

I did a candida diet a couple of years ago, that was an issue once but I test clean now. Anybody with celiac has a generally impaired gut. The probiotic is Primal Defense and I just don't do well when I stop taking it, which sucks, because it's expensive as hell. But it takes care of a lot of problems, not just the digestive issues, it also helps with my immune function.

What types of allergies to you have and what is it that you take for that? I have been tested and was told that everything that swells up I am allergic to...everything swole but 2 marks. I am allergic to all the pollens, molds, cats, even a cockroach mixture...ewww, said that is the dust in most buildings from those critters dieing in the walls...barf!! I was suppose to go and get the shots......twice a week for 3 months I think it was and then go every week after that, well, hell I do have a life! and it was expensive when your crappy ins does pay for most of it.
My eyes water very bad mainly twice a year. My favorite times, fall and spring. Cats, hell those about shut me down for 2 days! The only foods I know I am allergic to are bannanas, kewi fruit and cucumbers! I have never heard of such a damn thing. I won't die from them but makes me miserable. My lips burn and itch and so does my throat.
Anything I could take, I will try. That benadryl knocks me out to where I can't function.

I have terrible allergies, but I went to get the scratch test and they told me that the only reaction that I had was to the test scratch that everyone is allergic to. They must have done it wrong, because my allergies keep my face itching and nose running all the time.

As I am. I don't know about genetics here but I have an alright starting point, I don't have that much weight to lose. Once upon a time I had a smoking body, but child birth and hitting the big 30 will wreck havoc on a woman's body. Nothing will quite ever be the same, I just need to learn to re-adjust. I am learning something new everyday with the help of my ef friends!

Allergies are a symptom not an actual illness. Clean out your liver with some Milk Thistle and I bet your runny nose stops...oh yeah and stay away from all dairy. Dairy enhances allergies and keeps mucus in the body.
This is my very educated opinion so to all the ppl who are going to come back with comments on dairy, please don't!

I'm pretty sure one is sodium, has something to do with muscles contracting and detracting(is that even a word?).

I know some people I work with(physical and mental handicapped) have to take this combonamion to keep their limbs functioning somewhat, also their hearts.

Since I have gotten so many suggestions I can only hope the pharmasit (sp) can help me narrow down my choices. I am gonna specifically ask him about taurine though.

most folks forget that when you sup with potassium...you betta be adding sodium
