I agree with QT also... I for one don't know If i would purchase a ring for 2 months my salary .. LOL

But then again... the ring I found when I was married was something I really liked and it was very inexpensive but I wanted that ring... no other one.

I dont think so.

And dude, dont feel muscled into spending a requisite amount for the engagement ring. I guarantee you this "2 month salary guideline" originated from the jeweler community (i.e the folks selling the stuff) and not from some legitimate standardization of mens' spending habits. You should spend no more or less than what you are moved to spend....simple as that.
