Hey guys...
I'm 25yo, I'm around 5'8, 5'9 and i weight about 285lb. I would like some tips, diets and/or workout plans that i could use and stick to them. I don't wanna be that FAT kid anymore, i wanna get back in shape, so i can have a much healthier life and be there for my wife as long as i can.

Any help will be much appreciate...

I would suggest a meal plan that you can actually follow. Eat 5 times a day, small meals (easier said than done) and daily exercise.
Personally I do cardio in the morning before I eat. (I'm trying to lose a few lbs) then it's healthy meals. It will probably be difficult at first and a lot of people will seem like they are out to ruin your new healthy lifestyle but you gotta stay with it. A clean diet and cardio will have you looking pretty darn good by spring.

Good luck

And lift weights, increasing your muscles means that your body will burn more calories, and it will boost your metabolism.

Hey man, I think the most important thing you said is "so i can have a much healthier life and be there for my wife as long as i can.". This is paramount! Too many times in our country people are just lookin for the quick fix (Atkins diet, HCGdiet etc...) Since you are wanting to change and make it a LIFESTYLE change I got faith in you bro. If you need any questions PM me. I think a simple diet that would just change up some of your current eating habits would be easy for you to adjust to, shed some fat, and thus lead to more adjustments, and thus more fat loss. So the longer you'll go, the more intense the diet will be come.

Why don't you write down your typical day and I'll see what I can do.

First of all; You have my respect for being one of the few people who want to lift weights to stay healthy and support your family.

Second, I apologize I'm feeling lazy at the moment (it was a legs workout day), But the stickies in this forum have a great guide to caloric intake. After you check that out I would advise writing down things you eat in a journal or on a spreadsheet and make a diet that fits your schedule and goals as far as losing/gaining weight goes.

Third, Cardio; learn to love it my friend. It's not all bad, search High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) This type of training works really well with losing fat. And it wouldn't hurt to hit some weights of course. Don't worry about what people think about you at the gym, you aren't there to impress them. Do what YOU have to do for yourself and start off lifting weights that are comfortable for you.
